Austrian Church puts out red carpet at Salzburg Festival
Salzburg: Church invites passers-by "onto the red carpet"
Under the motto "With God, you are the Star", the Archdiocese of Salzburg wants to engage in conversation with people
In Salzburg, the Church is inviting passers-by to "walk the red carpet" with a special action on Friday (19 August). The pastoral care team of the missionary pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Salzburg invites passers-by to cross the red carpet and have a conversation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Franziskanergasse, not far from the Festspielhaus. Because every person is special in the eyes of God, the motto of the event is "With God, you are the star", according to a statement from the archdiocese.
The idea is to follow the biblical passage Isaiah 43:4, according to which every person is special, "precious and valuable" in the eyes of God. A "trial run" a week ago had already been a complete success, those responsible emphasised. The signal, visible from afar and flanked by golden stands and red cords, had been rolled out in front of the information point "Open Skies" by employees of the Pastoral Care Office. "We have to learn again to talk well with each other and about people," said Father Ernst Wageneder, summing up the conversations with the mostly curious passers-by. For them, the red carpet will be rolled out again on Friday.
Isaiah 43
[7] And every one that calleth upon my name, I have created him for my glory, I have formed him, and made him. Et omnem qui invocat nomen meum, in gloriam meam creavi eum, formavi eum, et feci eum.
Cathcon: this needs to be seen in the context of the Salzburg Festival which only finishes at the end of this month, flooding Salzburg with stars.
