Priests more concerned with "outrages" against the Pope than against Christ and His Church

Mass of Atonement for 'outrages' against the Pope during the political campaign

It is being organised by the slum priests and will be held on 5 September at 11am in the parish of Virgen de Caacupé, in Villa 21-24 in the Barracas neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.

Mass of atonement for the 'outrages' against the Pope during the campaign of the slum priests together with Pope Francis.

The Team of Priests of Slums and Popular Neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires invited to participate in the mass in atonement for "the outrages" to the person of Pope Francis, carried out during the electoral campaign.

The Eucharistic celebration is scheduled for Tuesday 5 September at 11am in the parish of Virgen de los Milagros de Caacupé, Osvaldo Cruz 3470, Villa 21-24, in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Barracas.

In the announcement, the slum priests explain that the Eucharist is celebrated in this church because, "since 1996, in this parish, the then vicar general and later archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, after getting off the bus, would come walking through the corridors to meet those living in the neighbourhood, the priests and the community".

"He was always loved for his simplicity, his austerity, his clear words, his understanding of the people. With him we shared masses, sacraments, greetings, mates, food. And as he shared in this town, so he did in others", they point out. They also recall that, "in this exact spot and during the whole time he was in Buenos Aires, every December 8th he went to celebrate the Mass of the Virgin of the Miracles of Caacupé".

"It is also in this place where we want to vindicate Pope Francis and reject all kinds of insults, lies and insults that are being expressed in this election campaign", they conclude.
