Newt Gingrich becomes Catholic!


All souls are equal in the Catholic Church. But have to say, one Gingrich is worth a thousand Blairs. Don't think we are going to see The Gingrich Faith Forum.

This has been rumored about since last year.

Oddly, there was some speculation that even W was going to convert after he left office because of his special relationship to Father Neuhaus and later Benedict XVI.

Especially stating that he saw God in the eyes of the Holy Father, a amazingly Petrine declaration for a Southern Evangelical Christian.

In light of the many appalling scandals in Gingrich's private life, of his dubious career-long political associations with the worst elements in American neoconservatism, and of his continuing espousal of a radical Zionist and anti-Christian foreign policy, it is not uncharitable to remind Cathcon readers that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. It needs to be seen whether he is a convert to the Roman Catholic Church or to the sect of Neocatholic Americanism, a sect condemned as heretical by every pope from Leo XIII to Pius XII. The reaction of the sect's latter-day grand masters, which include George Weigel and Michael Novak amongst the living and Richard John Neuhaus amongst the deceased, should soon give us all a star to steer by.

I certainly pray that Gingrich has converted to the True Faith, but time alone will tell whether Gingrich is truly worth a thousand of the Blairs—and whether a thousand times zero is a product worth calculating!
