Gratitude, hope, and a hug from Argentina to the world are born in "Con tu voz, Francisco," a song composed and performed by two renowned Mar del Plata artists whose chords were born from the hope for Pope Francis' recovery during his days of hospitalization and which, ultimately, becomes a posthumous tribute to the Argentine pontiff.

With music and lyrics by Cecilia Pugliese, vocals by Cristian Rodríguez, and arrangements and programming by the renowned Martín Carbello, it is available on platforms starting today.

 

The chords and lyrics began to appear when the Argentine Jorge Bergoglio—to the world, Pope Francis—was improving his health and was once again meeting with the faithful in St. Peter's Square.

"At that moment, music appeared that, while it has nothing to do with the final, is one of joy, of feeling back, protected in some sense," Cecilia recalled, while emphasizing that in the early hours of the morning when the news of Francis's death was announced, "there came that feeling of 'what will happen to us now,' because he was the Pope of people of other religions, the Pope of atheists, the Pope of all, regardless of their gender, situation, or origin. He was the Pope who reached out, who asked to fight; Then the desolation came from that side, and well, we had to sing,” the artist said.

As Pugliese explained, the song seeks “for us to stay a little longer with that close voice. Every day that passes, we feel it's more irreplaceable. The song speaks of a fraternal hand that mustn't disappear. We have to sustain that. And in that sense, I also write the song counting on all these fraternal hands that make up this team, because otherwise, the song would be locked inside my house, in a notebook. And without Cristian's voice that takes it to the levels of the soul.”

The message in the lyrics is none other than “to keep fighting, to keep coming together, to keep getting closer, so that others can be as they feel they are and can do what they want.”
