"Leo rocks the Chair" - a music video in tribute to the Pope
A Bavarian amateur musician was so fascinated by the conclave and the new pope that he and his band recorded a song about Leo XIV. His main profession is a doctor and he examines his patients' vocal cords.
The election of the new Pope is also inspiring the music scene: "Viva il Papa - Leo rocks the chair" is the name of the latest composition by Neumarkt pop singer Toni Hertz, which is already available as a music video on YouTube. Behind the stage name is an ENT doctor named Achim Silberhorn, who runs his own practice. As a pop singer, he has been playing with his band "Midlife Greisis" for almost 30 years and regularly performs on regional stages.
According to a report in the "Nürnberger Nachrichten" on Wednesday, Silberhorn was attending a medical conference in Ingolstadt when white smoke above the Sistine Chapel announced the election of the new pope. Just one day later, he headed to the recording studio in Munich.
Recorded in a Day
Leo XIV is a cosmopolitan head of the church who will rock the Holy See, the musician told the newspaper. At the same time, Leo is "the rock," a modern successor to Peter. The song was recorded in a day. The lyrics are in English. One verse reads: "Holy Father, fill our hearts with spirit, children of the light, send a message to the hopeless people, lift them from the night."
He was particularly inspired by Leo's clear call for peace, Silberhorn, alias Toni Hertz, continued. War has been waged for far too long, whether in Ukraine or in the Middle East. He hopes that the new pope can influence those responsible for it.
