New Head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith thinks the Church has been wrong for years. He covered up sexual abuse. Specialises in eroticism

In the homily in the Cathedral of La Plata on Sunday, March 5, Archbishop Víctor Manuel Fernández assured that the Church has been wrong for a long time.

Preaching about love for others, the Archbishop of La Plata stated that “if we do not learn to look at the other in a different way, nothing changes. If I don't learn to look at his beauty beyond his appearance, his abilities, his sexual orientation... whatever it is... I can't end up loving him".

Following this statement, Víctor Manuel Fernández shared with the faithful the following reflection: "You know that for many centuries the Church went in another direction. Without realizing it, he developed a whole philosophy and morality full of classifications, to classify people, to put labels on them... this one is like this, this one is like that, this one can receive Communion, this one can't, this one can be personified, this one can't. … terrible that this has happened to us in the Church. Thank God Pope Francis helps us free ourselves from these schemes."

The Archbishop asks to welcome gays, transsexuals and divorcees

The day before that homily, on March 4, Víctor Manuel Fernández celebrated the Mass for the inauguration of the new parish priest of San Luis Gonzaga.

Until last December, that Church was managed by priests from the Miles Christi Institute, which was recently investigated by Francis. The Archbishop of La Plata decided to break the contract with this Institution, which was entrusted with managing that specific Church.

"The Miles Christi Institute had been in Villa Elisa for more than 20 years, being in charge of the San Luis Gonzaga parish and the San Francisco de Assisi school, which were the subject of a contract signed on July 6, 2006," according to the archbishopric. .

The reasons offered by the Archbishop to get the Miles Christi Institute out of the way, is the "recent expulsion (it was in the year 2020) of whoever was the founding priest of the Miles Christi Institute."

At the inauguration Mass for Marcelo Cerniato as Parish Priest of San Luis Gonzaga, the AICA news agency states that the Church "was returned to the archdiocese."

The agency itself offers excerpts from Víctor Manuel's homily. The Archbishop took the opportunity to emphasize that "the local Church, which is not the parish or the movement, is the Diocese, led by a successor of the apostles."

“Each diocese is fully Church because it has in it all the elements of sanctification that Jesus has given to his Church: it has a successor of the apostles presiding over it, it has the Eucharist, the Word, all the sacraments, communities, religious life, and in our diocese also monastic life. All of this in communion with the Holy Father through the legitimately designated bishop”, he underlined.

Along these lines, Monsignor Fernández explained that "the same thing does not happen in a parish and even less in a group, which only makes sense if it is integrated into a diocesan Church and never as a parallel diocese."

The Archbishop of La Plata affirmed that “among the guidelines that the current Pope gives to the entire Church, each community must have its doors wide open for everyone to enter. And everyone means everyone: gays, transgenders, people with doubts about their faith, couples in second unions, people who are not convinced by everything the Church says, even ex-cons who may have killed someone, addicts. The Church does not want to be a sect and therefore has to have a place for everyone”.

“When we talk about a Synodal Church, we are saying that: a Church where everyone can be a part, and even collaborate in their own way and even give their opinion. This multi-faceted richness that includes this entire neighborhood is what I expect from this parish of the archdiocese”, added the Archbishop.
