Diocese of Essen Queer Network

"And behold, it was very good", Gen 1:31

All people in all their diversity are welcome in the Diocese of Essen. With the "Queer Network", the Diocese of Essen is sending a clear signal against discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and intersex, non-binary and queer people. The network deals with questions about LGBTIQ* pastoral care, answers questions about life-long pastoral care and offers numerous opportunities for exchange and encounters with the aim of counteracting the exclusion of LGBTIQ* people within the Diocese of Essen and beyond.

The Diocese of Essen cultivates a respectful and appreciative approach in encounters with all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Queer people are welcome in parishes, communities, institutions, groups and associations.

The concerns of the Diversity Network are:

- to set a sign of welcome,

- to oppose discrimination of any kind,

- to raise awareness for diversity, sexual and gender diversity,

- to recognise and accept the wishes, concerns and biographies of queer people,

- to provide pastoral care, counselling and contacts.

On this website, the "Queer Network" shows how respect for diversity and variety is promoted and how people and issues of the queer community become visible within the church, in the conviction that all people are willed by God.

The real message is that there is nothing wrong with mortal sin. The spiritual works of mercy are history, but the Catholic leadership of Essen should get sized for millstones.
