Strasbourg Archbishop on the brink
Strasbourg Archbishop Luc Ravel, 65, will resign in the coming days, writes La-Croix.com (19 April).
He is accused of an "authoritarian style of government" - which cannot be a crime, as Francis does the same. After a visitation in June 2022, Cardinal Ouellet asked the Archbishop to resign in October.
Ravel promised to do so, but changed his mind. He was then summoned by Cardinal Parolin but did not go, citing health reasons.
In Strasbourg and Metz, two dioceses that used to belong to Germany, the French president appoints and dismisses the Bishop. So the Vatican has come up with a trick. They plan to transfer Ravel to a titular diocese, which would not require Macron's approval.
La-Croix, a Bergoglio propaganda paper, claims that Ravel is pursuing a "scorched earth policy" - but he is simply following the ideology of Bergoglio and the Pastoral Council, whose gods are "collegiality" and "synodality". Francis cannot dismiss a bishop as if he were his altar boy if he does not want to lose the last vestige of his credibility.
