Congregation of Disobedient Modernists in Austria

"We are Church", "Parish Priest Initiative", "Laypersons Initiative" and "Priests without Office" will appear together in the future as "Church Reform Austria".

The four Catholic associations "We are Church", "Parish Priest Initiative", "Laypersons Initiative" and "Priests without Office" will appear together in the future as "Church Reform Austria". The four organizations announced this in a broadcast after an exam. One is still committed to the respective members, but will appear together to the outside "to give the reform efforts a new dynamic".

Years of efforts to bring about urgently needed reforms in the Roman Catholic Church have so far had little success, the broadcast said. The reform is being "prevented by conservative forces in the church leadership, while thousands of Christians are leaving the church". The common faith does not need "organizational centralism". Church law must be revised. The "ruling clericalism" and the "disadvantaging of women" have nothing to do with the directives of the Bible. The four initiatives stated that speaking openly was more necessary than ever. And: "In order to achieve lasting changes, you need a new courage for responsible disobedience."
