Spirit of Vatican II but no longer burdened by sin
It is actually quite likely not by Saint Isidore but comes from a book, the Pseudo-Decretals of Isidore.
It has been revised for use at the sessions of the Synod 2021-2024.
We stand before You, Holy Spirit,
as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us,
make Yourself at home in our hearts;
Teach us the way we must go
and how we are to pursue it.
We are weak and sinful;
do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path
nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity
so that we may journey together to eternal life
and not stray from the way of truth
and what is right.
All this we ask of You,
who are at work in every place and time,
in the communion of the Father and the Son,
forever and ever. Amen.
A poor and decadent substitute that eliminates the reference to justice and the necessity of the grace of God. Needless to say it skates over corruption in the church reduced to partiality....
The great original in Latin- this is actually given as the Latin version of the revised modern prayer by the Vatican!
It is prefaced by an introduction on how to convene a Council which I have translated.
At the first hour of the day, before the sun rises, let all be expelled from the church, and the doors shall be shut for all at one door, through which the priests must enter, and the hosts shall stand. And all the bishops shall come in at the same time and settle according to the time of their ordination. After the entrance of all the bishops and the assembly, then the presbyters are called, whom the authority has approved to enter, and none of the deacons insert themselves among them. After these, the probationary deacons should enter, whom the ordinary desired to attend. And the crown should be made of the seats of the bishops, the presbyters will sit behind them, those whom the metropolitan has chosen to sit with him, and who, of course, can judge and define something with him. The deacons stand before the bishops. Then let the laity enter, who have deserved to take part in the shared election. Let the reporters also enter there, whom the ordinary requires to recite or receive. The priests having closed the doors and sitting in silence for a long time, and having their whole hearts turned to God, the archdeacon is going to say: Pray, and at once they will all prostrate themselves on the ground, both bishops and presbyters, and praying for a longer time in silence with tears and groans, one of the senior bishops rising to offer a prayer
Amen.
