Modern art instead of Catholic Faith

From 2019

Artistic installations already have a good tradition in the church, which was redesigned by architect John Pawson in 2013, most recently the photo and video works by Karen Irmer. A very special event follows from 10 March, when the exciting video installations of Bill Viola can be experienced. Viola, a pioneer of video art, is one of the most important living artists who repeatedly shows his intensely fascinating works in sacred spaces, including several times at the Venice Biennale. In Augsburg, "Water Martyr" from 2014 will be shown in the Kreuzkapelle of the Moritzkirche.

and "Three Women" (2008) will find their place in the southern aisle.

The video "Ablutions" from 2005 will be shown in the baptistery.

Visitors should bring a little time and quiet with them, as the videos last between seven and ten minutes. But you can go to the Moritzkirche more often, which is an extremely inspiring place not only for Catholics ...

The historically documented west choir of the Moritzkirche is being revived by an extensive participation project. From May to August, the Moritzplatz in front of the church portal will become a playground for urban society. As part of the West Choir Project, a cultural marketplace for all will emerge from small and large ideas, art, music, performances, lectures, discussions and much more. There will be a covered stage, a grandstand like an amphitheatre, a group tent and gastronomy. The architectural office TEAM-A-3 has taken on the planning of the area. An essential element of this forum will be the stone table designed by the sculptor Norbert Schessl for open meetings and working groups. The organisation of the whole thing is being taken care of by the Moritzkirche team and volunteers, as well as the Dovecote in the Peace Festival.

Individuals, independent theatres, associations and initiatives are already on board. The State Theatre will also be a guest with a production. Anyone who would also like to get involved with their idea can find up-to-date information on the project and application on the website of the Moritzkirche.

Infinite Journey. Bill Viola in the Moritzkirche, 10 March to 1 September, opening: 9 March, 8 p.m.

Pre-Vatican II

Post-Vatican II

Post-Conciliarism, the twin of post-modernism. A fast track to nihilism.

It has become a void space on which anything can be imprinted by the world.  This should come as no surprise as the Pope believes that there is no thing such as Catholic culture but he is impressed by and uncritical of any other culture. See my post.

You can even go on a psychedelic trip....
