Priest embezzled thousands of euros to spend on motorbikes, cars and dubious videos

This court case in Malta is quite something: a priest there is alleged to have spent large sums of money on pornography over several years. The clergyman speaks of a "sexual crisis".

A priest in Malta is said to have bought pornography with donations of up to 150,000 euros, according to media reports. According to the Times of Malta (Friday), he allegedly spent large sums on porn sites for live sex shows over several years. The accused priest, referring to a court case against him, explained that he had experienced a "sexual crisis" due to a major health problem.

The priest is accused in court of embezzlement and money laundering over a period of about ten years. In total, he is alleged to have accumulated up to 500,000 euros in several accounts and to have owned a collection of motorbikes and cars. The 39-year-old has reportedly pleaded not guilty, stating that the payments were not donations to the church but went directly to him. The local church has suspended him.
