Missing Vietnamese Cardinal delays announcement of Conclave date
The cardinals assembled in the Vatican for the Fifth General Congregation on Thursday still have set no date for the start of the conclave. This was announced by Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi to journalists. The Congregation was attended by 114 of the total of 115 voting cardinals. The Vietnamese Jean-Baptiste Pham Minh Man (79) is still missing. He should arrive in the course of Thursday in Rome.
At the same time, Lombardi denied Italian press reports that the opening meeting of the Conclave is planned for next Monday in the Vatican Basilica.
