Perpetual Saturday Prayer for the return of the Church of England to the Catholic faith
The modern version of the devotions for the conversion of England. A contrast to the previous post. Now called an ecumenical prayer....
Most Holy Virgin, who for so many centuries have made your maternal presence felt within this believing community, hear the prayer we fervently address to you for the whole Church of Christ and, in particular, for our brothers and sisters of the Anglican Communion. Grant us, through your maternal aid, a profound awareness of our limitations, so that we may not be overcome by pride but serve God with humility. Grant, O Mother, that we may rediscover the path to unity within the mystery of redemption accomplished by your Son Jesus, who, clad in the purple robe of the Passion, offered Himself on the Cross for the Church, His Bride. Kindle in all hearts the light of the Gospel of truth; pray in this Upper Room, that your Son may send the Spirit of unity, harmony, and forgiveness. Gather all your children at the harbor of salvation to build the one people of the Covenant. Grant, O Mother, that the day may soon dawn when, in harmony, we form one flock under one Shepherd.
Amen.
