Representatives of the reform movement "We Are Church" will officially participate in a meeting at the Vatican. As the group announced on Monday, this is the first time they have traveled to Rome at the invitation of the Vatican.

"Eight delegates from We Are Church International will also participate in the meeting of 'Synodal Teams and Participatory Bodies of the World Synod' from October 24 to 26, 2025, as part of the Holy Year in the Vatican, at the invitation of Cardinal Mario Grech, Secretary of the World Synod – a first," the statement reads. A meeting with Pope Leo XIV is also planned for the coming days.

Synod Meeting in the Vatican

Participation refers to one of the thematic events within the framework of the Holy Year 2025. Various organizations and stakeholders in the Catholic Church's synodal processes will convene in Rome from October 24 to 26 for the "Holy Year Celebration of the Synod Teams and Participation Bodies." An audience with Pope Leo XIV is planned for Friday. Discussions, networking meetings, and a pilgrimage through the Holy Door will take place on Saturday. The event will conclude with a service in St. Peter's Basilica on Sunday.
