Scandal in April in Reggio, Rupnik's right-hand man invited to preach

Don Bresciani

A catechesis on Christian life by the deputy director of the Aletti Center, Don Ivan Bresciani, is scheduled for tomorrow, April 10, in Reggio Emilia. An initiative discovered by Bussola and desired by Don Davide M. Poletti, in the wake of a network of prelates who still favor Marko Rupnik and his most faithful followers, despite the misdeeds of the Slovenian priest.

While in Lourdes the mosaics of Rupnik and the Aletti Center are hidden, in Reggio Emilia, tomorrow, Thursday April 10, at 8:30 pm, the deputy director of the Center, Don Ivan Bresciani, is invited to speak about the newness of life of Baptism. Baptism: a new life that implies a new way of existing and thinking is the title of the conference that Rupnik's right-hand man will hold in the Church of the Sacred Heart, in via Monsignor Baroni.

Don Bresciani is one of those who chose to follow Rupnik, after his expulsion from the Society of Jesus; a very faithful follower, in short, of the Slovenian priest and another of those who could not have not known. What will he go and explain to the faithful of the Laudato Si' Pastoral Unit? The new life that is born from Baptism, the metanoia of thought, based on the principles learned from his Slovenian teacher? The new life of Baptism, which would also foresee, for the most "perfect", a life beyond the commandments? Will he explain that the Trinity in whose name one is baptized is the same that his teacher evoked to justify three-way sexual relations?

Now incardinated in the Diocese of Ascoli Piceno, thanks to the protection of Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, Bresciani is in fact always at the court of the artist-guru.

The initiative was strongly desired by the parish priest of the Laudato Si’ Pastoral Unit, Don Davide Maria Poletti, who, by publishing the poster (see photo) in the Pastoral Unit chat, explained that it will be made public only in the imminence of the meeting, to avoid uproar that could spoil the situation… In fact, on the Pastoral Unit website to find a bare piece of news, that is, the poster itself, you have to scroll down quite a bit or download the bulletin and peek at the calendar, where you find the simple indication “UP Assembly with Father Ivan Bresciani”. But not everyone in the chat is unaware of Rupnik's misdeeds, and not everyone is willing to pretend nothing is happening, while one of the people closest to the former Jesuit is invited, as if nothing had happened, to talk about Christian life. To be fair, Don Poletti did nothing more than follow the example of Monsignor Gianpiero Palmieri, the bishop of Ascoli Piceno (the diocese in which Don Bresciani is incardinated) and a friend of De Donatis, who in January of this year thought it a good idea to ask the vice-director of the Aletti Center to preach a spiritual retreat, held in Loreto, for the priests of the diocese.

We do not know how close Don Poletti is to Rupnik and the Aletti Center; certainly, to expose himself in this heated period of the affair, he must be an aficionado. It seems that the reverend parish priest is also known in the diocese for his liturgical creativity and his free interpretation of the Roman Missal, including the consecratory words, which have the tiresome characteristic of always being the same... Known in the diocese and in the Curia, where however they pretend nothing is happening.

Rupnik, in the Reggio Emilia area, is not at all unknown. His work is the mosaics of the Annunciation and the Disciples of Emmaus in the chapel of the seminary, in 2003, when the Emilian diocese was headed by Msgr. Adriano Caprioli, while the seminary was governed by the current bishop of Ravenna-Cervia, Msgr. Lorenzo Ghizzoni. His Excellency, among other things, in the photo on the official website of the diocese of Ravenna, likes to appear with the mosaic created by Rupnik in the chapel of the seminary where he was rector from 1994 to 2006 behind him, almost as if he wanted to claim paternity, as well as underline the esteem he had for the Slovenian priest. And the diocese of Reggio, in those years, had the custom of inviting Father Marko Rupnik to preach spiritual exercises to the seminarians. As De Donatis did for seminarians and Roman clergy.

Rupnik also created the mosaic works in the mortuary of the hospice Casa Madonna dell’Uliveto (2001) and the Casa per Anziani Luigi Cervi (2016), both in Albinea. Particularly linked to the former Jesuit is the president of the hospice, Dr. Anna Maria Marzi, a well-known figure and quite present in the diocese, as a collaborator of the Pastoral Care for the Elderly, for the elaboration of mourning (yes, this “pastoral care” also exists), as well as president of the Diocesan Federation of Services for the Elderly (FeDiSA). The mosaic creations were financed by Luigi Maramotti, president of the fashion house MaxMara, and former president of Credito Emiliano. Because Rupnik could also have been a friend, but one of those friends who do nothing for nothing.
