Paderborn Cathedral apologises for disgusting dance performance including half-naked men and decapitated chickens

Statement on the performance by the group Bodytalk during the opening of the exhibition "775 – Westphalia" | May 26, 2025

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL) and the LWL Cultural Foundation opened the exhibition "775 – Westphalia" with a ceremony in Paderborn Cathedral as part of the anniversary year "1250 Years of Westphalia."

Easter a few weeks before.

Paderborn Cathedral has frequently hosted high-profile cultural events in the past – including a long-standing and trusting collaboration with the LWL.

During the ceremony, an artistic performance by the ensemble Bodytalk was presented. The specific content of this program item was not known in advance to either the organizers or the venue.

Both the LWL and the Paderborn Metropolitan Chapter express their sincere regret that the performance offended religious sensibilities. Such an effect was never intended and does not reflect our aspirations for this place, with its special religious, historical, and cultural significance.

We take the reactions to the performance very seriously and have already begun revising our internal procedures. In the future, there will be a revised process for approving events in the cathedral, ensuring a more thorough review of the content.

We are deeply sorry for any confusion this may have caused, and we thank everyone who took the time to share their perspective with us.

See Cathcon report BodyTalk dance with dead chickens before High Altar.  The idiots said the dead chickens resembled the Holy Ghost in the form of a dove.
