Now "Hermeneutics of Continuity" deployed in desperate attempt to sanitise the record of Francis
Cardinals Address Possible Hermeneutics of Continuity Between Francis and Previous Popes
Cathcon: The modernists think he has enabled "ecclesiogenesis", a new way of doing Church, so NO!
The eighth general congregation of cardinals, held this Friday at the Vatican, brought together more than 180 cardinals, including more than 120 with voting rights in the upcoming conclave. The session, which began with a common prayer, addressed key topics of ecclesial life, with special emphasis on evangelization, youth, and the unity of the Church. Theological coherence between the last three pontificates was also discussed.
During the morning session, 25 interventions were made. In these, evangelization was highlighted as the core of Pope Francis' pontificate, framed within the vision of a "fraternal and evangelizing" Church. The cardinals emphasized the need to make the Gospel message more accessible to new generations, insisting on more effective communication from parishes to the Roman Curia.
One of the highlights was Christian witness, linked to ecclesial unity. The Gospel passage, "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another," was recalled as a fundamental guide in the face of contemporary challenges. In this context, the negative effects of counter-witness were also addressed, highlighting in particular the cases of sexual abuse and financial scandals that have damaged the Church's credibility.
Attention was also drawn to the Churches suffering persecution, especially in the East, whose situation was the subject of various interventions. At the same time, the importance of the liturgy as a spiritual and missionary axis was highlighted, as well as the role of canon law and the value of synodality and collegiality, understood in relation to the evangelizing mission and as a response to growing secularization.
On the doctrinal level, the "hermeneutic of continuity" was highlighted, alluding to the theological coherence between the Pontificates of John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and that of Francis. The Eucharist was mentioned in several interventions, not only as the center of liturgical life, but also as an expression of the Church's missionary dynamism.
Denial of Parolin's Health Problem
On the other hand, Holy See spokesperson Matteo Bruni categorically denied rumors about a supposed health problem for Cardinal Pietro Parolin. "No, that's not the case. It's not true," he stated. Bruni also denied any recent medical intervention: "No, absolutely not."
The chimney for the fumaroles has been installed
The spokesperson also commented that the chimney has been installed in the Sistine Chapel; possible tests will be available later. Regarding the work on the Casa Santa Marta and the cardinals' accommodations at the Domus, there are no details at this time.
Cañizares and Njue Will Not Attend
Bruni confirmed that the cardinal electors who will not attend are Antonio Cañizares Llovera, Archbishop Emeritus of Valencia, and John Njue, Metropolitan Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi, Kenya. Currently, four electors have yet to arrive in Rome.
The Sistine Chapel has been closed to the public since Sunday the 27th. During these days, workers will be setting up the spaces and audio equipment, repairing the floor, etc. While simultaneous translation is offered at the Congregations, it will not be available during the meeting in the Sistine Chapel. The ceremony will be in Latin, as will the oath of office of the cardinals.
The oath will be administered in the Sistine Chapel after the procession, followed by Cardinal Cantalamessa's sermon, and then the first counting of the votes.
