Vatican II Church in Belgium will be dead by 2045 at latest

The price of the ultra-progressivism on the part of Belgian clerics and bishops, for decades, is beginning to be quantified… and paid.

According to a study by Kerk & Leven, the Flemish dioceses will have, between them, less than 250 active priests – aged under 75 – in 2030. And even then, some believe that this is an “optimistic estimate” which does not take into account the “systemic crisis” of the Church in Belgium and its capacity to rush into the wall, all lights out and with their foot down.

“In 2020, dioceses can still count on 400 priests. By 2030, this number will have fallen to 237. With the exception of the diocese of Bruges, all Flemish dioceses will have less than fifty active priests,” indicates the Flemish public television VRT which publishes the study – in Belgium, religious are financed by the State, via the Ministry of Justice.

In details :

Diocese of Bruges: the number of active priests will decrease from 130 in 2020 to 78 in 2030.

Diocese of Ghent: the number of active priests will decrease from 71 in 2020 to 43 in 2030.

In the Dutch-speaking part of the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels: the number of active priests will decrease from 80 in 2020 to 46 in 2030

In the Diocese of Hasselt: the number of active priests will decrease from 63 in 2020 to 37 in 2030

In the Diocese of Antwerp: the number of active priests will decrease from 56 in 2020 to 33 in 2030.

According to Wim Vandewiele, sociologist of religions at KU Leuven, the Kerk & Leven figures remain a fairly optimistic forecast. “The figures do not take into account the high average age of the clergy and the therefore higher risk of illness and death. They clearly show that the Church in Flanders is in a systemic crisis,” he says.

Cathcon:  There will never be any need to suppress the new Mass; it is suppressing itself.  Traditionis custodes will be a footnote on history, used as an example of just how blind and obstinate the modernists were.  Cardinal Grech has said that the implementation of Vatican II is entering a mature phase.  The modernists have nowhere else to go apart from oblivion.

The figures for the French-speaking part of Belgium will be worse.  My experience was that the parishes there were almost completely moribund.
