Cunibert was born somewhere along the Moselle to a family of the local Ripuarian Frankish aristocracy, and educated in Metz at the court of Chlothar II. He entered the church and became archdeacon of Trier.He was made bishop of Cologne in 623,and attended the Synod of Clichy in 626/627.

As bishop, Cunibert was an advisor to King Dagobert I, and served as tutor to his son and heir Sigebert III.[3] In 633 or 634 Sigebert was invested as king of Austrasia. Following this, Dagobert made Cunibert and Adalgisel, the mayor of the palace, co-regents of the kingdom. Following the death of Adalgisel's successor, Pepin of Landen, Cunibert served as the chief public official of the king, in which capacity he revised the Lex Ribuaria.

Throughout his episcopacy, monasticism flourished and churches were founded and restored. He is regarded today as a saint by the Roman Catholic church and his feast day is the day of his death: November 12. He is buried in a church bearing his name in Cologne, the city where he lived and died.

The Reading from the Martyrology

This Day, the Twelfth Day of November

Feast of All the Saints of our Order. A totum duplex feast of the second class.
St. Martin I, pope and martyr, whose birthday is commemorated on September 16.
At Vitebsk in Poland, the suffering of St. Josaphat, of the Order of St. Basil, a Polish archbishop and martyr. He was cruelly slain by the schismatics in their hatred of Catholic unity and truth. He was numbered among the martyrs by Pope Pius IX. His feast, however, is kept on November 14.
At Alcalá in Spain, the birthday of St. Didacus, confessor, of the Order of Friars Minor, who was noted for his humility. He was canonized by the Sovereign Pontiff, Pope Sixtus V; his feast is celebrated on November 13.
In Asia, the suffering of the holy Bishops Aurelius and Publius.
At Eachen in Belgium, St. Livinus, bishop and martyr. He had converted many persons to the Christian faith when he was slain by the heathens. His body was later transferred to Ghenr.
Ar Gnesen in Poland, the holy hermits and martyrs Benedict, John, Matthew, Isaac, and Christian. They were engaged in prayer when they were savagely attacked by robbers and put to the sword.
At Sergines near Sens, St. Paternus, monk and martyr. He met some robbers in the nearby forest and when he tried to persuade them to correct their lives, they put him to death.
At Avignon, St. Rufus, who was the first bishop of that city.
At Cologne, the death of St. Cunibert, bishop.
At Tarazona in Aragon, Blessed Emilian, priest. He was remarkable for his many miracles.  St. Braulio, Bishop of Saragossa, wrote his admirable life.
At Constantinople, St. Nilus, abbot. In the reign of Theodosius the Younger, he had been prefect of that city and then became a monk. He was distinguished for his learning and holiness

November is the Month of the Poor Souls in Purgatory

THE ROSARY FOR THE POOR SOULS

It is a practice earnestly recommended to all persons who desire to assist the “Poor Souls.” It is said on any ordinary beads.

On the Cross: De Profundis or Pater and Ave.

On the Large Beads: V. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord. R. And let perpetual light shine upon them.

Act of Faith: My God, I believe in Thee, because Thou art Truth itself.

Act of Hope: My God, I hope in Thee because Thou art infinitely good.

Act of Charity: My God, I love Thee with my whole heart and above all things, because Thou art infinitelj^ perfect.

(7 years and 7 quartines each time. Benedict XIV., Jan 28, 1756. Plenary, once a month, if said every day. Benedict XIII., Jan. 15, 1728.)

(Plenary, in articnio mortis—at the point of death—if frequently used during life. Benedict XIV., Jan 28, 1758.)

On the Small Beads: Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.

(300 days once a day. Leo XIII., May 21, 1892.)

Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.

(300 days each time. Pius IX., Sept. 30, 1852. Plenary, once a month.)

At the end: Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

(300 days each time. Pius IX., Pr. Ma. Jan. 25, 1868; Pius X., Sept. 15, 1905.)

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, pray for us.

(100 days each time. Pius X., Br. July 9, 1904.)

St. Joseph, model and patron of those who love the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us.

(100 days once a day. Leo XIII., Dec. 19, 1891.)

DO NOT FORGET that, by all means, the Holy Sacrifice of Mass is the most efficacious means to help, to relieve, to deliver the “Poor Souls” in Purgatory.

Sunday is the Day dedicated to the Resurrection and the Holy and Undivided Trinity

Sundays are, of course, the day for renewing Christ's once and for all Sacrifice during the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass. Because Christ rose from His tomb on Sunday, Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sundays, or "the Lord's Day." On this day we fulfill God's Third Commandment, to "remember the sabbath day (which means "rest", not "Saturday"), to keep it holy." We refrain from unecessary servile work and fulfill our "Sunday Obligation" to attend Mass.

The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary are prayed on Sunday

"I would like to remind you that the Rosary is a biblical prayer, all filled with the Holy Scriptures." It is a prayer from the heart, in which the repetition of the Ave Maria directs the thought and affection towards Christ, and thus is made a confident prayer to Him and our Mother. It is a prayer that helps to meditate on the Word of God and assimilate the Eucharistic Communion, on the model of Mary who kept in her heart everything Jesus did and said and even His Presence. " Pope Benedict XVI

The Reading of the Rule of Saint Benedict for November 12

XXXV  DE SEPTIMANARIIS COQUINAE
1 Fratres sibi invicem serviant, ut nullus excusetur a coquinae officio, nisi aut aegritudo, aut in causa gravis utilitatis quis occupatus fuerit,
2 quia exinde maior merces et caritas acquiritur.
3 Imbecillibus autem procurentur solacia, ut non cum tristitia hoc faciant;
4 sed habeant omnes solacia secundum modum congregationis aut positionem loci.
5 Si maior congregatio fuerit, cellararius excusetur a coquina, vel si qui, ut diximus, maioribus utilitatibus occupantur;
6 ceteri sibi sub caritate invicem serviant.
7 Egressurus de septimana sabbato munditias faciat.
8 Lintea cum quibus sibi fratres manus aut pedes tergunt lavent.
9 Pedes vero tam ipse qui egreditur quam ille qui intraturus est omnibus lavent. 10 Vasa ministerii sui munda et sana cellarario reconsignet;
11 qui cellararius item intranti consignet, ut sciat quod dat aut quod recipit.

CHAPTER 35:  THE WEEKLY KITCHEN SERVERS
1 The brothers are to serve one another; thus no one is to be excused from kitchen duties unless he is ill, except in the case of one occupied with some matter of great importance:
2 for in this way great reward and love are acquired.
3 For the feeble, however, assistance is to be procured so they do not become discouraged;
4 indeed, all are to have assistance according to the size of the community and local conditions.
5 If the community is large, the cellarer is to be excused from kitchen service, together with any others who are occupied (as we have said) with matters of greater importance:
6 the rest are to serve one another in love.
7 The one completing his week is to do the cleaning on Saturday.
8 They are to wash the towels with which the brothers wipe their hands and feet.
9 Both the one who is finishing his service and the one about to begin are to wash the feet of all.
10 He is to return to the cellerar, clean and in good condition, the vessels used in his work; the cellarer is then to consign them to the one beginning his service,
11 so that he knows what he gives out and what he receives back.
