Synodal Path as a Career Path

Franziska Driessen-Reding is now working for Jacqueline Fehr

The former president of the Zurich Synodal Council Franziska Driessen-Reding has a new job: from November she will be the religious delegate for government councilor Jacqueline Fehr. In this role, she will be responsible for the canton's relations with Zurich's religious communities.

Zurich government councilor Jacqueline Fehr has brought Franziska Driessen-Reding on board. The canton of Zurich reported this in a corresponding media release on Wednesday. It says 54-year-old Franziska Driessen-Reding enjoys a high level of acceptance among the Canton's religious communities and has a broad network.

Due to her many years of leadership experience and her familiarity with the current issues in the relationship between the state and religious communities, she is the ideal person for the new office and the challenges that lie ahead.

Very familiar with the topic

The former President of the Zurich Synodal Council (2018 to 2023) worked for the Roman Catholic body in various functions for over 15 years. The Directorate for Justice and Home Affairs wrote about Driessen-Reding's appointment that she was very familiar with the topic of the state and religious communities. She was also always committed to interreligious cooperation and was president of the interreligious round table.

Her new boss Jacqueline Fehr - as head of the Justice and Home Affairs Directorate - is certain: Driessen-Reding's great commitment, particularly to issues such as equality, sustainability and the fight against abuse, would strengthen the Canton of Zurich in the further development of a contemporary religious policy.

Franziska Driessen-Reding will take over the delegate position from her predecessor Lorenz Engi from November 1, 2023. He has been responsible for cooperation between the state and Zurich's religious communities since 2017 and this year took on a new position at the University of Freiburg.
