Police on the alert: anonymous e-mail threat against Swiss Bishops during their conference
The office of the Swiss Bishops' Conference has received a threat. The bishops are currently meeting in St. Gallen, which has put the St. Gallen city police on alert. This is because a public service is taking place.
An anonymous person is said to have threatened the office of the Swiss Bishops' Conference in Fribourg. According to "Blick", an e-mail was received there. Davide Pesenti, the Secretary General of the Bishops' Conference, then instructed the staff to leave the offices early on Friday. A protest demonstration was to take place at 6 p.m. if certain demands were not met. There was no demonstration.
St. Gallen is also informed
The Fribourg cantonal police were called in. According to "Blick", the public prosecutor's office has also been informed about the threat. The Swiss Bishops' Conference is currently in St. Gallen. The Bishops are still meeting there until Wednesday. Today, Tuesday, a public Mass will take place at 12 noon in the St. Gallen cathedral. The St Gallen city police are now on alert because of the threatening e-mail. They will increase their presence in front of the cathedral.
