Bishop comes to defence of DJ priest at World Youth Day
Bishop Glettler, well known to this blog for his taste for modern art in ecclesiastical service has come to the defence of the DJ priest on Instagram. His last public pronouncement was to recommend going to see some art called "Jesus is My Homeboy"
"Lisbon 2023 WYD - a unique celebration of youth faith ended today with a solemn service. About 1.5 million took part. In the morning there was a wonderful wake-up for the countless young people who had spent the night in the Tejo Parque. A Priest DJ really put on the music for the somewhat free morning prayer.
From Pope Francis' homily, based on the Gospel of the Feast of the Transfiguration: "Three points I give you: Shine - Listen - Do not be afraid! Today we need many flashes of light to overcome the nights of our time. God enlightens our hearts. But we do not shine when we put ourselves in the limelight - loving like Jesus, that makes us shine. When we selfishly revolve around ourselves, the light goes out. Listen! Listening to Jesus - therein lies the joy of the Gospel. He tells us what the way of love is.
Do not be afraid! Do not be afraid! Again and again we need to hear this. Sometimes you think that you cannot make your way and the changes that are needed today. But it is precisely to you, who are needed by the world - precisely to you that Jesus says: Do not be afraid! I would like to say this to everyone personally. Jesus himself looks at you - he knows your successes and your failures. He says: "Do not be afraid!"
