Radical Muslims provoke fellow pupils in German grammar school

Girls whose behaviour does not correspond to the alleged Islamic code of morals and dress are particularly affected: some radical Muslims are said to have repeatedly put fellow pupils at a Bonn grammar school under pressure.

According to a newspaper report, there is religious bullying by some radical Muslim pupils at a Bonn grammar school. The minority at the Nicolaus-Cusanus-Gymnasium, whose numbers cannot be precisely determined, is said to have repeatedly put other Muslims and Christian fellow pupils under pressure, writes the Bonn "General-Anzeiger" (Tuesday). Girls whose behaviour did not correspond to the alleged Islamic code of manners and dress were particularly affected.

"It can be confirmed that some schoolgirls have reported being approached by boys, that the dress code was not observed in the schoolyard or in sports lessons," the newspaper quotes a spokeswoman of the Cologne district government. According to the newspaper, almost 60 per cent of the approximately 550 pupils at the grammar school are Muslims.

According to the newspaper, students also wanted to pray repeatedly in the Gymnasium, which is not allowed at a municipal school. "Any publicly recognisable attempt to pray in the school will be stopped in order to maintain school peace," said the spokesperson for the district government. The school is in contact with the North Rhine-Westphalian prevention programme "Wegweiser - gemeinsam gegen Islamismus", she said. The team advises the teachers and organises events. In addition, the school is in contact with the municipal offices for integration and schools, the school psychology, the system counselling for the prevention of extremism and the promotion of democracy as well as the district government.
