LGBTI vigil in Spanish church
The Parish of San Jacinto, located in the central Triana neighbourhood of Seville, has called for a prayer vigil "for a world without LGTB-phobia" on Friday 19 May.
The group "Ichthys de cristianas y cristianos LGTBH de Sevilla", has once again called for a vigil for LGTB in the church of San Jacinto in Seville. "One more year we call you to pray with us in the vigil for a world without LGBTI-phobia. A committed plea to God, Mother-Father, for an end to phobic attitudes against the LGBTIQ+ community. This time we will be accompanied by Nico Montero, who will host the songs of the celebration live. Share and don't come alone!", they write on their social networks.
The promotional poster of the event calls for participation by quoting the passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew when it says "whoever receives you receives Me and whoever receives Me receives the one who sent Me". This pro LGTB vigil will also feature a musical performance by Nico Montero who sang in Cuatro Vientos before John Paul II and a million young people in 2003 and in 2011 inaugurated the WYD by singing on the central stage of Cibeles his well-known "Firmes en la Fe" to welcome Benedict XVI.
In addition to various LGTB groups, this vigil has the collaboration of the Oblate nuns and the Dominicans of Seville.
Same vigil held last year
Last year, the same vigil was held in the parish of San Jacinto in Seville. The event was organised by the group "Ichthys Cristianxs lgtbh de Sevilla" who affirm that "Christ would say no to this catechism" and that "diversity is not a sin". The parish of San Jacinto was filled with LGBT flags and candles.
Will the Archbishop of Seville, Monsignor José Ángel Saiz Meneses, have anything to say?
