Pope Benedict XVI meets members of the German Bishops' Conference audience in Castel Gandolfo
In connection with his upcoming visit to Germany, Pope Benedict XV today received in audience the Chairman of the German Bishops Conference, Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, and members of the episcopal management group for dialogue of the German Bishops Conference, Cardinal Reinhard Marx (Munich-Freising), Bishop Dr. Franz-Josef Bode (Osnabrück) and Bishop Dr. Franz -Josef Overbeck (Essen). The bishops have, as already had been planned for some time, informed the Holy Father on the state of the dialogue process of the Catholic Church in Germany.
Starting with their Fall 2010 Assembly, the bishops discussed the orientation of the dialogue process and on the pastoral letter of 17 March 2011 and also gave briefing on the launch event on 7 / 8 July 2011 in Mannheim. The Holy Father has shown a keen interest in this process so as to provide the impetus for the Church's way forward. He supported the dialogue process as a spiritual journey of renewal and encouraged the German bishops to go in this direction. In particular, the Holy Father the context of the 50th Anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. The intriguing and great Fraternalism was associated with a lunch and lasted nearly three hours.
