Abuse report: First claims filed against Freiburg's former Archbishop Zollitsch
Following the publication of the abuse report of the Archdiocese of Freiburg, former Archbishop Robert Zollitsch has been reported to the police - by a private person from Saarland.
Last week, the abuse report on the handling of sexualised violence in the Archdiocese of Freiburg was published. Since then it has become clear: there were "toxic structures" and church law was ignored in favour of perpetrators. Now the former Archbishop Robert Zollitsch has been accused. According to SWR information, the public prosecutor's office in Freiburg has already opened a file on this.
Private person denounces Zollitsch after abuse report of the Archdiocese of Freiburg
A private person from Saarland has reported former Archbishop Zollitsch to the police. The person refers to the contents of the abuse report. The complaint was received by registered mail at the public prosecutor's office in Freiburg and has already been confirmed there. In response to a question from SWR, a spokesperson for the public prosecutor's office explained: "They are now comprehensively examining whether there are any criminal charges against the former Archbishop of Freiburg Zollitsch or against other persons. At present, the 600-page abuse report is still being examined. It has been submitted to the public prosecutor's office. It will take some time until the results are available, according to the public prosecutor's office.
