Their announcement

Anti-Patriarchy Conference

All voices united against patriarchal structures

Make a big cross in your calendar, because in April 2023 you can expect an unprecedented format. The BDKJ Federal Association invites you to the first nationwide anti-patriarchy conference in Wiesbaden! Everyone from the ranks of the BDKJ who wants to overcome patriarchy together is invited.

From Thursday evening, 20 - Saturday noon, 22 April we want to bring together diverse perspectives, learn with and from each other, discuss, reflect, generate knowledge, be creative, critically question, give space to emotions and questions, develop visions and let ourselves be inspired and carried by united feminist energy. We have invited exciting speakers who will offer workshops on different topics around patriarchy - from critical masculinity to political perspectives to queerness in education and much more.

The events are explicitly aimed at all interested people from the youth and diocesan associations of the BDKJ - regardless of gender. Everyone is welcome!

Attention: Those of you who will be attending the Federal Women's Conference can stay one night longer - it will take place from Sat, 22 - Sun, 23 April at the same venue.

We are really looking forward to it! #smashthepatriarchy

The "dominance of men" is still a "bitter reality" in many areas: the Federation of German Catholic Youth wants to stand up for more diversity - and calls for action against sexism and discrimination.

The Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) wants to stand up for more gender justice and "against patriarchy". "Because the dominance of men over women and other genders is still a bitter reality in politics, research, society, our thinking and our actions," the umbrella organisation of many Catholic youth organisations wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

At the end of a three-day "Anti-Patriarchy Conference" in Wiesbaden, BDKJ national chairperson Daniela Hottenbacher declared: "We must take action against sexism and discrimination and ensure that all people, regardless of their gender, can develop freely." Gender diversity is important to ensure that all genders are equal and diversity is promoted, she said.

The BDKJ is the umbrella organisation of 17 Catholic children's and youth associations with around 660,000 members. It sees itself primarily as representing the interests of these associations in church, state and society and also takes care of securing financial support.
