Cathedral closed following occupation by Albanian refugees
Tourists found closed doors this morning at the Cathedral of Sainte-Cécile and the Saint-Salvi church, two of the main places to visit in the historic heart of Albi. The diocese confirms the temporary closure of the two buildings. The order was given by the prefecture following the temporary occupation of the cathedral on Monday evening by Albanian Roma who have been camping in the city centre for several days. This is the first time that the Cathedral cannot be visited, causing surprise to tourists visiting the Episcopal city.
