Cardinal interviewed by police
Danneels questioning- on Tuesday the Cardinal left the office of the Federal Police in Brussels at nearly 7.45 pm as was witnessed by several journalists present. Cardinal Danneels did not give any statement on leaving.
He was heard in the context of the inquiry into the evidence of alleged pedophilia within the Catholic Church in Belgium. Cardinal Danneels was questioned as a witness for ten hours. Nothing more is known at the moment.
The hearing of Cardinal Danneels ended around 19:45 Tuesday, about 10 hours after it started. Several media reported that the prelate was not charged with anything but no one in Brussels public prosecutor could not be reached for comment on the latest events.
Cardinal Danneels was heard all day about a possible attempt to cover up cases of sexual abuse of minors within the Church. The Cardinal was faced with the child psychiatrist Peter Adriaenssens during the afternoon (Cathcon- Adriaenssens was head of the Commission established by the Church on sexual abuse). The latter wished to make no comment on the content of the hearing.
