Diocese of Leeds decision driven by money not faith
IT was with considerable sadness that I read of the coming closure of Mount St Mary's (School).
I had the privilege of carrying out the first Ofsted inspection of the school and at that time it was outstanding and provided for all those involved a benchmark for future inspections.
Every member of the team was moved by the commitment of the headteacher and staff, working in awful conditions but providing a quality of education for the pupils that we never saw bettered.
How sad that something so small but so brilliant is deemed surplus to requirements. Education Leeds and the Catholic Church are obviously driven by money, not quality and that is very sad for the future of our children.
Mike Egerton, Former Ofsted Registered Inspector
We can be thankful that the Bishop of Leeds did not become Archbishop of Westminster.
