Un-believable! Doesn't the man see that he is banalizing his ministry? Nothing wrong with loving rock and roll, nothing wrong even with performing it if one is NOT an Abbot Primate and in in full regalia to boot. I am just contemplating whether it would be alright for somebody like him to perform under an alias and in plain clothes. Honestly, I don't know. But he wouldn't do that. He wouldn't do that because it wouldn't tickle his vanity. And that is what is worst about it. He is selling out his ministry for a brief moment in the limelight. That is even more despicable than all those many priests shown at his blog who probably seriously believe that they are doing the right thing when they are opening their churches to "fashionable" fads.

Assuming he has to be up next morning at 3a.m. for Matins, he must require very little sleep.
As a Benedictine Oblate who also loves rock music (I saw Deep Purple live quite recently - do I need to confess this?) I think the Abb Primate is unwise.
OK the words are innocuous and he's not windmilling or going into power stances etc, but it's just so... undignified. Why is he doing this at all? I'd have a bit less of a problem if he was in jeans and a T shirt like any other ageing rocker, but that cassock and pectoral cross are so in-your-face.I bet the younger generation are cringing too - reminds me of Tony Blair doing similar.
