Liturgy designed by a committee

Worship at St. Thomas is "enriched by a variety of ministries: Music, Liturgical team leaders, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Linen washers, Liturgical Arts Volunteers and Liturgical Planning Committee."

Like Carnival should be kept outside Mass, such gratitude should be saved for the party afterwards. Otherwise you end up venerating linen washers and not Our Lord and Savior, the King of all that is created.

Lent at the St Thomas Center, University of Connecticut, complete with Lenten hanging, of which doubtless they are proud, very proud.

The lamp below was designed by a Committee. Someone insisted on the teapot. Other members of the Committee got angry but (s)he pulled rank. Ok, to build a lampstand on a teapot which some fool may buy, but it is not OK for the Church founded by Jesus Christ on the Rock of Peter.
One of the most urgent matters to reform the Church is to make parish/ diocesan councils the appointment not of some phony, pseudo-democratic election but of the priest/ bishop. Then, they can make their proper contribution and not become an end in themselves. A Catholic priest should never become a slave to a particular community at a particular point in time and history. He acts in the person of Christ, neither Christ, yet not just one among many.
