Tous ceux qui l'ont connu ont éprouvé une réelle douleur à l'annonce du décès de l'abbé Jacques Paquet, qui fut curé de Bambois de 1968 à 1973.
Succédant au P. Cornet, ce jeune prêtre dynamique arriva au Bambois le 30 août 1968. Après l'abbé Cambier de vénérée mémoire, la paroisse de Bambois avait connu des prêtres extraordinaires :l'abbé Piérard et le P. Cornet ; l'abbé Pâquet ne le fut pas moins. D'un contact humain et franc, il avait le don de créer la relation. Dans son église, il entreprit d'audacieuses transformations : suppression des vitraux, le banc de communion, la chaire de vérité pour placer un autel (ceuvre de l'ébéniste L. Topet) face à l'assistance ; il fit repeindre tout l'édifice, électrifier les cloches, placer un splendide Christ en dinanderie (de Marcel Nulens)... II s'attacha aussi, bien sûr, à la vie paroissiale, suscitant un dynamisme nouveau dans la chorale, confiée à Jean Boccart et à de nombreuses manifestations religieuses.
Cinq ans plus tard, il fut nommé curé à Moignelée puis à Gilly et enfin aumônier à la clinique Saint-Luc à Bouge. Hélas, voici un an, un cancer se déclara. II est mort à Hanret jeudi dernier et ses funérailles ont eu lieu lundi. Durant sa maladie, il avait composé un fort beau texte « Mes rêves sont pour vous » et s'adresse à tous ses amis qui ont peuplé ses jours.
C'était un authentique homme de Dieu et un véritable ami de tous, joyeux et chaleureux.

The priest who was living in India at the time thought that it represented Our Lady Seat of Wisdom. This only goes to show that the problems of the Church pre-date the Second Vatican Council. He was in Bengal at the time, has subsequently been quite a successful author of spiritual works, and now lives in Brussels (as far as I am aware) where he continues dialogue rather than mission.
Interculturation, known to the British foreign office as going native, has been practiced by missionaries for years. It is just an exagerated anxiety to please which can been found throughout the contemporary Catholic priesthood.

In contrast, to all of the above, the ordination card of a good and holy priest from 1906. I have no details about him other than that he dates the card, 28th Mary's Month and that he asks Our Lady, Queen of Priests to pray for him. Please pray for all these priests.
But I am fairly confident that this same priest was twelve years later, the young dynamic priest who was ripping out stained glass and the altar rails, replacing the pulpit (known as the Throne of Truth in French) with a nave altar and installing modern art from Marcel Nulens (example below) in his Church.
