Good point. They move these guys up, or so it seems, into the office for canonizations like they're just moving up the promotion chain. If you made cardinal and played nice your whole life and everyone thought that you were a nice old guy, maybe you can make saint after you die.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but the way things are with the news and the blogs and so on today, if there was a cardinal, anywhere, with a decent reputation for sanctity, would we not have heard of him?

Finally, the fact that he was involved in starting up the so-called World Youth Days is not something which, well . . .
