Cardinal Marx opens exhibition on "Damned Desire"

Munich's Cardinal Reinhard Marx will open an exhibition on "Damned Desire" next weekend. The Freising Diocesan Museum will "deal with the tension between sexuality and religion in the mirror of art", as the Catholic Archdiocese of Munich and Freising announced on Monday. The title of the exhibition is "Damned Desire! Church. Body. Art". It is to open on Saturday (4 March) and then be on display on Freising's Domberg until 29 May. According to the archdiocese, more than 150 works of art will be on display, from antiquity to the early 19th century, "reflecting the tense relationship between sexuality and the church". (There is an expensive catalogue)

This picture is one of the exhibits.  What on earth are they trying to say?
