Synod attempting to replace the Episcopate as the links between national Churches. The Church cannot afford for Synod to become a telephone exchange for heresy!
The roadmap for the implementation of the World Synod is in place. Synod Secretary Nathalie Becquart explains what is important – and which principle is clearly important to Pope Leo XIV. She also discusses the new Pontiff's style of office.
The paper published by the Vatican on the implementation phase of the Synod aims to promote dialogue between the local churches and the Synod Secretariat and to support the exchange of synodal experiences between the churches. French theologian and Synod Secretary Nathalie Becquart said this in an interview with Vatican News on Monday.
Every local church has its own path, but cannot be isolated. Therefore, the document highlights the great importance of cooperation between the various local churches. "The Synod calls for a greater emphasis on the local Church, but at the same time emphasizes the importance of increased dialogue between the local churches," said Becquart, who was appointed Undersecretary in the General Secretariat of the World Synod by Pope Francis in 2021. With this appointment, she became the first woman ever to receive full voting rights in the World Synod by virtue of her office.
Similar leadership style to Francis
According to the document published on Monday, the implementation phase will be divided into five stages. Initially, the results will be implemented in the Dioceses, as well as at the national and international levels, by December 2026. This will be followed by assemblies at the diocesan level in the first half of 2027, and in the second half of the year at the level of the bishops' conferences and the transnational bishops' councils. The fourth phase, an evaluation in continental ecclesiastical assemblies, is planned for spring 2028. The culmination will be a "general ecclesiastical assembly" in the Vatican in October 2028.
In this context, Becquart emphasized that Pope Leo XIV not only speaks about Synodality, but had already embraced it before it was formalized. Furthermore, he already exercises his office as pope in a synodal style, the nun continued.
She also pointed out that he maintains a leadership style similar to Francis's: "He listens with deep spirituality, because Synodality begins within us. It is first and foremost a spiritual attitude, but must then also translate into structures and concrete actions," said the nun and theologian, who was named one of the 50 most powerful women in the world by Forbes magazine in 2014.
Cathcon: Empowered by the Catholic Church at the Catholic Church's expense.
Becquart started her career presiding over "Life at sea, entry into prayer", an organization which offers young people spiritual retreats on sailboats. A full interview with her."Life at Sea" Mass. Yes it is actually a Catholic organisation providing spiritual experiences on sailing boats once presided over by Sister Becquart. She just moved on to a larger organisation called Synod and still does not notice the lack of reference to Christ. #CatholicX pic.twitter.com/oOg5z0bZyN

Cathcon: It was said of the proto-modernist heresiarch, Maurice Blondel that he was the telephone exchange for modernism, yet he escaped direct condemnation by Pope Saint Pius X. This was a serious mistake. We are now into the third wave of modernism, synodalism, after the New Theology of the Conciliar era and the modernism of the era of Pope St Pius. It will consume itself.
