Man claiming to be a direct descendant of God interrupts Mass

Another disturbing episode linked to Kadir, the self-styled holy man already known to the news, who broke into a church in Miggiano, in the province of Lecce, last Sunday, disturbing the celebration of the First Communion of some children.

Visibly tired, with a long beard, shabby green clothes and a delirious attitude, Kadir began to shout threatening phrases: “It’s the end, it’s your end”, addressing those present and the sky, with theatrical gestures as if to invoke a higher entity.

Trying to calm the tension was Don Stefano De Paola, parish priest of the community, who from the pulpit tried several times to invite calm, addressing the troublemaker directly: “If you have a heart, respect this moment. Please, calmly, let’s bring serenity back”. Despite the priest’s appeal and the invitation to the faithful to remain composed, Kadir continued to shout until some of those present, armed with cell phones, filmed the scene which in a few minutes went viral.

After a few interminable seconds, the man was removed from the church and escorted outside. Given the situation, the intervention of the Carabinieri and the mayor Giovanni Damiano was necessary, who signed a compulsory medical treatment (TSO) for Kadir. The police then continued to monitor the area to ensure the safety of the local community. According to some witnesses, the gesture could have been committed deliberately on the day of Pentecost, a particularly significant moment for the Christian liturgy.

Kadir, whose name has long been linked to sectarian practices and alleged mental manipulation, lives on the outskirts of Miggiano together with two followers: a young woman from Sicily and a boy originally from Foggia. Both are said to have abandoned their families to follow the strict rules imposed by the self-styled spiritual leader.

Within the group, there is an absolute ban on working, engaging in sentimental or sexual relationships and, in certain periods, even on eating and drinking regularly. There are stories of long fasts, up to four days a week, imposed to "purify body and spirit".

The group's followers are said to ensure its survival. Kadir presents himself as a "direct descendant of God" and claims to possess both physical and mental healing abilities. The followers' relatives instead consider him an unscrupulous scammer, capable of taking advantage of the fragility of vulnerable people.

In recent months, several disturbing episodes linked to the sect have occurred, including that of a girl forced to walk naked in the street, by order of the holy man, as an alleged "spiritual sacrifice". The authorities are conducting investigations to verify any criminal liability, while the Carabinieri have already acquired footage and testimonies, including those relating to verbal attacks on television crews and journalists.

At the moment, the investigation remains open and monitoring is constant, with the aim of shedding light on the real nature of the group's activities and protecting those involved.
