Dogs banned in Capuchin Church in Salerno
No dogs allowed... due to some owners": this is what we read on the notice posted on the parish noticeboard of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, in Piazza San Francesco. The owners of their four-legged friends, therefore, will no longer be able to participate in the celebrations in the company of their pets. A choice, that of the church of Salerno, that has made many citizens turn up their noses. "I have no one to leave my dog with: so I can no longer attend mass?", asks a citizen. "It is certainly not an initiative consistent with what Pope Francis has tried to do in recent years: an inclusive church cannot exclude those who have an animal".
An elderly man from the neighborhood is of the same opinion: "It would have been more appropriate to specify that, if the dogs in the church caused a nuisance, they would be removed: why punish everyone for the fault of a few presumed rude people?", he concluded. The controversy is therefore mounting, while the owners of the animals in the area, at the moment, are looking for other churches to attend.
