Pope Francis meets Synod organisers

A Synod of Bishops on synodality is due in October; it is part of a longer synodal process launched by the Pope. This Monday, the Pope received the leaders of this process.

World Synod: Work on the Instrumentum Laboris has begun

At the Vatican, he spoke with Cardinals Mario Grech and Jean-Claude Hollerich and Jesuit Father Giacomo Costa. Grech heads the Vatican Synod Secretariat, Hollerich is the Synod's central rapporteur. Costa coordinates the preparatory team, which is currently discussing a working document for the synod launch (Instrumentum laboris). All the churchmen mentioned except Grech are Jesuits.

The worldwide Synodal process, also called 'World Synod', is about the way decisions are prepared and made in the church. The aim is to strengthen the synodal principle. In a continental phase of the World Synod, local churches all over the world have prepared working papers which are currently being cast into a unified text. This will serve as the basis for the Synod of Bishops in October.

Bishop Gerber of Fulda

Bishop Michael Gerber of Fulda was also with the Pope this Monday. As usual, the Vatican did not disclose the content of the conversation.

Cathcon: Synodality is a Jesuit tool to fashion the church in their own image rather than that of Christ.  It must be stopped!
