German Catholic life after the War

High Mass in Munster.

The altar has long gone- as can be seen by taking the virtual tour.

What a symbol of the post-war age!

What an extraordinary photo.

Does anyone know where in Munster this is ?

The picture of the war damage and destruction set me thinking about the fate of bomb damaged German Munsters (or, in English, Minsters,)in various historic old cities.

This reminds me of the appalling destruction in Freiburg, Dresden, and of couse the Old City of Munster.
The Cathedral.
Thanks, Gillibrand.

Somehow, I failed to read your post fully.
I only saw the photo.

St. Paul's Cathedral, Munster ?
It was a wonderful 14th century church before it was bombed.

Yes, I've seen pictures of the reconstruction.

A book I once read said the old city of Munster had been faithfully rebuilt.

I wish I could say the same of the medieval cathedral !
