Exorcisms, the Church and hitmen. Blackmail of priest.
Sempio's lawyer talks about exorcisms, the Church and hitmen: "Stasi knows but must keep quiet". And that time Lovati was questioned by prosecutors for blackmailing the priest
A supporter of the innocence of both his client and Alberto Stasi, the lawyer takes up the scandal of the Santuario della Bozzola
He is not only defending Andrea Sempio, the new suspect in the investigation into the Garlasco crime, whom he calls "a misfit communist" who "has nothing to do with this story". Lawyer Massimo Lovati also says he is convinced that "Stasi is innocent" and also shares the position of the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio who considers his conviction "irrational" "after the acquittals". And in an interview with Repubblica he also exposes his theories - speaking of exorcisms, the Church and hitmen - revisiting the scandal of the Santuario della Bozzola, a story of sex and blackmail against a parish priest that came to light in 2014. A case in which the name of the same lawyer Lovati appears (with a marginal role, however).
The Santuario is one of the "alternative" theories on the Chiara Poggi murder: hypotheses that investigators consider to be unfounded speculation. A few days ago, the Rai 3 program Chi l'ha visto? resumed the story, speaking of a document from a fugitive that links the round of sex scandals to the death of the young woman from Garlasco. In June 2014 in Vigevano, in the premises of the diocese, a carabiniere disguised as a priest sees two Romanian men talking to the promoter of justice sent by the Vatican to understand what is happening. “The two men ask the priest for 250 thousand euros to avoid a scandal, and they make him listen to an audio of the rector of the no no no no no no no no no in Garlasco. The contents are sexual in nature,” explains the television report by Vittorio Romano in reference to alleged videos recorded in the bedroom of the priest, who allegedly spent time with several young people. The man in question is Don Gregorio Vitali, who is not only a priest but also an exorcist, the same one who made the famous appeal to Chiara Poggi’s murderer after the crime, saying: “I am amazed at how he manages to keep this burden inside himself.” Don Gregorio, the injured party in the trial, admits to only one relationship and is forbidden to celebrate Mass. The other protagonists are convicted of extortion. The Romanians are said to have taken the money in the end.
“The facts date back to 2012. In a place on the outskirts of Garlasco where exorcism was practiced every Wednesday. Then facts of paedophilia emerged,” declared today the lawyer Lovati interviewed by Repubblica. Facts that he links to the murder of Chiara Poggi because – even if “five years later” – “they also happened before, everyone knows that”. So the young woman would have been killed because she had discovered all this: “It’s my theory. A dream I had”, declared Lovati. Murdered, however, not by Stasi who “told so many lies” because he was “prompted”: “He had no alternative”, otherwise “he would end up underground”, insists the lawyer. And he also speaks of “blank instigators” referring to people within the Church: “It wouldn’t be the first time. Look at what happened with poor Emanuela Orlandi. But I repeat that it’s my dream. I don’t want trouble”, he specifies.
For him, therefore, the central issue in the Garlasco crime would be the affair of the Bozzola Sanctuary. As reported by Corriere della Sera, in the investigation into the blackmail and extortion of Don Gregorio it turned out that the payments were made through fake contracts. Drawn up by whom? None other than the lawyer Lovati. On that occasion when the lawyer was questioned by the prosecutors he appealed to professional secrecy. So his name also appears in the Garlasco events, like that of Andrea Sempio's other lawyer, the lawyer Angela Taccia: at the time of the crime she was the girlfriend of Alessandro Biasibetti, also a friend (like Sempio) of Chiara Poggi's brother and a frequenter of the villa. He was with Marco Poggi on holiday in Trentino on 13 August 2007. Since 2020 he has been a Dominican friar. He has already been questioned twice by the Carabinieri and he too will be summoned to the laboratories of the Scientific Police, to take a biological swab: his DNA will be among those analyzed and compared in the decisive evidentiary incident in the new investigation.
