Drugs scandal in Spanish Archdiocese

The Archbishop of Toledo, following the arrest of the former vicar: "None of us are immune from falling"

Francisco Cerro urges the priests of the Archdiocese in a letter to "ask for help" in the face of loneliness and isolation.

The Archbishop of Toledo, Francisco Cerro, has taken a step forward by sending a letter to the more than 500 priests he pastors, in light of the arrest of the former Vicar for the Clergy, Carlos Loriente, for alleged drug possession.

In the letter dated yesterday, to which 'Vida Nueva' has had access, Cerro invites priests to live this situation "with a spirit of faith, based on truth, and with a heart of mercy." In addition to inviting them to conversion, he admits that "none of us are immune from falling, and that is why we must help each other live in holiness."

"Let us review our lives in the light of the Lord," he immediately says as a warning to priests, adding other warnings: "Let us put aside everything that separates us from Him."

"Do not hesitate to ask for help if you find yourself in difficulty," the archbishop advises priests, aware that "the enemy takes advantage of loneliness and isolation to ensnare us."

In the letter, he invites priests to pray for the priest under investigation so that God may "support them in these moments," just as they accompany the faithful in this time of uncertainty.
