Catholic priest imagines a letter from Carlo Acutis to Andrea Grillo (the sworn enemy of the TLM)
By Monsignor Alberto González Chaves
Dear Professor Andrea Grillo
Peace and joy in the risen Christ! I greet you from Paradise, where discussions about liturgy sound a little different, believe me. I've seen that you've taken the time to talk about me and the way I lived my Eucharistic faith. I appreciate your interest. But, if you'll allow me to say this with the sincerity of a boy who wasn't afraid of losing face in order to defend Jesus, there are things in your words—and in some of your teachings—that hurt me. Not for me, but for Him.
According to you, I'm a victim of a "bad Eucharistic education": one of an archaic and miraculous vision of the Eucharist. And I focus more on the "inessential" than on "the ecclesial body." Nice! Look, Professor: I was very normal. I liked video games, I loved eating pizza, and seeing my friends. But there was a difference: Jesus in the Eucharist was the center of my life. And I realized that many didn't know this. How could I not do everything possible to show it? If I had to be born again, I would do the same. Because one doesn't keep the secret of heaven once one has found it. I knew that "the Eucharist was my highway to Heaven," I took it, and... here I am, encouraging others to take the same route.
From here, where everything is seen in the light of eternal Love, I can't help but smile—one of those that never fades here—when I hear your recent words about me and my humble work to publicize Eucharistic miracles, which led to an international exhibition with dozens of documented cases, supported by bishops and approved by the Church. Who would have thought that a young computer nerd would end up embroiled in a liturgical controversy! Here in heaven, everything is seen with immense clarity and peace: there is no room for confusion. Everything is understood in the light of Love, that Love that is Truth, Beauty, and Fidelity. Heaven is not made of human opinions, but of fidelity to revealed Truth.
I confess that it amuses me to see how a poor boy with sneakers and a backpack can become the object of so much attention. And yet all I ever wanted was to help others discover what I found so young and so clearly! You see, I didn't intend to found schools or stir up the "spirit of the Council." I simply fell in love with the Eucharist. A single consecrated Host was enough for me to understand that everything is there: the mystery, the beauty, the entire Church. I didn't understand many things... but I did understand this. Believe me: I never wanted to impose anything, only to share what I had discovered as the center of my life: Jesus in the Eucharist. He is the driving force, the destiny, and the beating heart of the Church. Everything else—forms, ideas, even our beloved theological discussions—only make sense if they lead us to Him. I am sure that if we let go of our agendas, our categories, and our filters, we will all return to putting Christ at the center. Because, in the end, what good is the best liturgical theory if we forget that it is God Himself who makes Himself present?
You have studied, you have a voice, you have influence. But please use that gift to confirm the faith, not to sow doubt. We don't need a "more modern" Church, but a holier one. The world is not hungry for theological experiments, but for truth, for consolation, for salvation. If you say that transubstantiation contradicts metaphysics, or promotes blessings for unions contrary to God's plan, or suggests replacing the concept of the indissolubility of marriage with that of an "unavailable bond," or advocates the moral legitimacy of contraceptives, or denies that the Church has definitive authority over sexual morality, or vindicates the diaconate for women, or speaks of liturgical changes that empty the mystery of its meaning... you are taking a great risk.
Jesus did not come to dialogue with the fashions of the world, he came to save us from sin. And that Saviour is really present in every Holy Mass. Perhaps today there is so much discussion about signs that the Meaning is forgotten. Up here I have learned that all that is true, beautiful and good is summed up in a personal encounter with Christ. The liturgy is not a battlefield, but the threshold of heaven. Jesus in the Holy Mass is not a symbol or a pious memory, it is Himself, with His Body, His Blood, His Soul and His Divinity! This is not what a Milanese teenager with a passion for Eucharistic miracles says: the Lord Himself says it, the Church has always said it, the martyrs proclaimed it and the Council of Trent, Vatican II and all the saints who have kept me company in this adventure of heaven taught it.
I ask you not to see me as a symbol, but as a simple boy in love with the Eucharist. I hope that one day we can laugh together about all this... in front of Jesus! I promise you my prayer, professor. I assure you that up here we also pray for theologians (and a lot). I, if you will let me, especially commend you so that your heart may feel strongly the sweetness of Jesus the Eucharist and that one day we may celebrate together, face to face, the heavenly Liturgy, where no rubric is worth more than Love.
With sincere affection, and my prayers for you,Carlo

Fantastic. As for the Professor
Luke 1
51 He hath shewed might in his arm: he hath scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
Fecit potentiam in brachio suo : dispersit superbos mente cordis sui.
52 He hath put down the mighty from their seat, and hath exalted the humble.
Deposuit potentes de sede, et exaltavit humiles.
