Pittstown church to close;
Hoosick, others are spared - Bennington Banner
Mass had a 'somber air' this weekend at St. George Mission Church in Pittstown, as churchgoers learned that their parish is one of 33 being closed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.
Knew it was coming
Most parishioners saw it coming, according to the Rev. James Clark, who also leads Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Hoosick Falls, but the mood was still glum. 'A few people were upset, taken aback,' he said Sunday, 'but the majority of people had been expecting it. There was a somber air at Mass. It certainly wasn't jubilant.'
