Scenes from "mission"ary life

He has actually never been on full mission, but he has been desk-bound administrator of mission and he is also a professor of missiology. Traditional mission he says, "was an unworthy competition for souls" and that Catholic missionaries were in the business of enslavement.

And contrast SVD Sisters.

While it is unfortunately true that, in SOME cases, missionaries actually were in the business of enslavement (and continue to be in some places), it would be a complete lie to say that all of them were or, even worse, that real mission work (leaving the desk and university missiology department)enslaves people. There were a great many selfless missionaries who disregarded their own lives in order to bring the Gospel to unbelievers--and all without help or even support from the ruling Roman Catholic or Orthodox or whatever power. Indeed, many were persecuted by their own "most pious sovereigns."

It's funny that one can learn all this information only from reading books and studying missiology and history, but some people are too busy wearing funny hats and blathering tired-out anti-Christian propaganda to actually study the work of missionaries.
