Diocese of Linz to be investigated
Congregation for Divine Worship will examine liturgical abuses (link long dead)
Hopefully this includes the Shrine to Judas. Action must be taken in this case or it will be an excuse for others to abuse the liturgy and devotions of the Catholic Church.
Kathnet reports in German "Will Judas be placed on the Linz Calendar of Saints?"
"Requiem for a Friend. Judas Iscariot." This is the title of an exhibit that has been on display in the crypt of Linz's Ursuline Church since Ash Wednesday, according to English and Polish blogs. According to an internet blog, the text accompanying the exhibition states that Judas should be recognized as a saint and that he did not commit suicide. Furthermore, he should become the advocate for all suicides, those excluded, excommunicated, witches, and apostates. Walter Gschwandtner's exhibit is on display in the Ursuline Church until Good Friday. According to a report in the Linzer Kirchenzeitung (Church Newspaper), Walter Gschwandtner's aim with his piece is to invite people to "take a new look at the role and person of Judas Iscariot." The event is organized by the Forum St. Severin, which is part of Catholic Action and the Austrian Catholic Academic Association (KAVÖ). The Linz academic chaplain Peter-Paul Kasper is responsible for the Ursuline Church.
