Exhibition of the Bochum Association of Artists

Already for the third time, members of the Bochum Association of Artists take the opportunity to exhibit current works traditionally in Christ-König Church in autumn. Within the framework of K.I.C.K 2010, 6 artists and 4 female artists present works from the fields of painting, graphics, sculpture, installation and media projection, which deal with the sacred space, the art church of the Diocese of Essen, and the theme of "transformations" in a special way in terms of content and aesthetics.

In the presentation of "vitulus aureus - agnus aureus" ( golden calf - golden lamb), Gisbert Danberg confronts two biblical animal figures whose symbolic effect stimulates current questioning.

In her work "Ordnung" (Order), Gabriele Elger reconstructs in chalk hatchings the original position of the rows of benches that have now been removed, in order to recall their systematic and spatial structuring in associative flashbacks.

The window rosette of Christ the King motivated Sabine Gille to create the two oil paintings "Lotus Bud and Blossom" in order to develop aesthetic correspondences to the present based on Christian tradition.

On long strips of paper, anatomical charcoal drawings by Barbara Grosse function as interventions and, as a "fall from hell", figure the brokenness of man.

The installation "erleuchtet" by Angelika Herker intervenes in the apse of Christ-König in the form of luminous yellow Plexiglas rods, emphasising colour and light accents in an exciting dialogue that leads beyond the visual experience.

In Doris Kirschner-Hamer's work "ver-s 24/7/2010", illuminated words appeal to the disaster of the "Love Parade" in the manner of theses and urgently admonish misconduct.

In his oil paintings "Ecce Homo" and "St. Sebastian", Hermann Metzger deals intensively with the existential experience of suffering, a classic Christian theme.
