Ally of Pope hits back at signatories of Correctio Filialis

Reactions
"You have not understood the Pope at all!"

The Italian Archbishop Bruno Forte sharply criticises the critics of Pope Francis. The "Correction" published over the weekend testify to ignorance and prejudice. The Italian theologian and Archbishop Bruno Forte defends Pope Francis. The Archbishop of Chieto-Vasto, according to a report from the Italian daily newspaper Avvenire (Tuesday), said that critics who recently accused the Pope of alleged heresies had not understood him at all. The signatories of the Pope's "Correction" published on the Internet during the weekend were an "absolute minority".

They had not have grasped, but misunderstood, Francis's letter on marriage and family in April 2016 ". Forte was a special Secretary of the Episcopal Synod on Marriage and Family in 2014/2015. In this function, he was also involved in its final declaration. The Papal letter, "Amoris laetitia" on marriage and the family of April 2016 had not changed the doctrine of the Church, according to the theologian. Rather, it answers to a pastoral question in the certainty that God's love does not exclude the divorced. Hiw the Church is able to express God's love in the "living conditions of such injured families" is a necessary question and "absolutely legitimate", the archbishop says

Whoever loves the Church cannot sign.

Forte sharply criticises the critics: anyone who ignores this concern of "Amoris laetitia" and "at any price positions adopt positions that depart from the Catholic faith," shows a "prejudiced behaviour and have scorned the spirit of the Second Vatican Council whicg the Pope embodies," said the former professor of theology. He who loves the Church and is faithful to the Pope as Peter's successor cannot sign such a document.

The signatories of the document, published in several languages on the Internet on Sunday, expressed the view that Francis had "encouraged heretical positions on marriage, morals and the doctrine of the sacrament" in a direct or indirect way. A key element of the initiative is the letter "Amoris laetitia" from 2016. The declaration of the laymen and clerics, among them the German writer Martin Mosebach, the former head of the Vatican Bank IOR, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, as well as the Superior of the Society of St Pius X., Bernard Fellay. Bishop Fellay blesses Crib in European Parliament

Reactions
Brussels, 12.9.2014. On the initiative of the Civitas Institute and with the support of Mario Borghezio MEP, a Crib has been set up in the Brussels EU Parliament and blessed by Bishop Fellay The Crib of considerable size is in the middle of a centrally located, public hall of the European institution.

At 1630 Mario Borghezio invited guests to the inauguration of the Nativity. MEPs, parliamentary staff and EU officials were present, as well as some guests from outside the EU institutions. Alain Escada, president of the French Civitas movement, briefly took the floor and pointed out that the baby Jesus in the manger shall rule over all nations and that all authority comes from God.

In the centenary year of death of Pope St Pius X, Escada quoted to the MEPs the famous words of this pope: "The civilization does not need to be invented, it was and remains, it is Christian civilization, it is the Catholic society. It merely requires them to restore and renew ceaselessly on their natural and divine principles. "

“Civilizationis not something yet to be found, nor is the New City to be built on hazy notions; it has been in existence and still is: it is Christian civilization, it is the Catholic City . It has only to be set up and restored continually against the unremitting attacks of insane dreamers, rebels and miscreants.” Variant English translation on line.

Bishop Fellay, who was not expected to be present at the inauguration, then solemnly blessed the Crib, Father Thierry Legrand, the District Superior of Belgium and the Netherlands was to his side.
Subsequently, the Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X addressed a few words to those present: "There in the manger is where it all started. So it is quite normal that Europe's governments give God himself glory, which comes among men to save them.   He, the King of Kings.   Let us remember what Cardinal Pie said: 'If the  moment for the lordship of Jesus Christ had not come, then the time has not come for governments to endure' By the blessing of this Crib, the church is a connection between this place and the grace of the love of God. This little place is a Sacramental for the benefit of all who come here to meditate. "

As well Mario Borghezio, together with the French Civitas organizer of the inauguration of this annual event, also French, English, Greek, Portuguese and Italian MEPs participated in this blessing.

The blessing of this Crib in the building of the EU Parliament has further great importance, as in France increasingly putting up Cribs in public places is prevented by the authorities, so as in Germany, Christmas Markets have degenerated into winter markets and Christmas celebrations into
year-end celebrations.

Suggestions SSPX should invite the Pope to their HQ. Would the Pope accept?

Reactions
Pope Benedict XVI launched talks between the SSPX and the Holy See. A few months after his election he received Bishop Bernard Fellay, the Superior General of the Society at Castel Gandolfo. Despite his patient efforts during an eight-year pontificate the gap was not bridged, as desired and a canonical recognition of the Society not materialize.

On 21st, Benedict XVI, lifted in February, the "ultimatum" of the 22nd February set by the CDF for an answer of the SSPX to the "doctrine Elle preamble" of June 2012 . He left the decision as to how to proceed with the SSPX to his successor.

While the radical left at the political level unimpressed continue their fight against the Church under Pope Francis, the Modernists on the frayed, left side of the Church such as Hans Küng and Leonardo Boff applaud the new Vicar of Christ on earth and give him as much credit as possible. Behind this strikingly flaunted joy is hiden just another way to criticize Pope Benedict XVI and his pontificate. By praising his successor, they disparage their favorite scapegoat Benedict.

Of course, it's also about the unvarnished attempt by praising the new Pope to make their own positions appear in a brilliant light. Leonardo Boff says in a Spiegel interview that the new pope was gay-friendly and in favour of adoption rights for homosexuals. His rejection of gay marriage in Argentina had been obtained only after Roman pressure. It is also a form of wanting to control a Pontificate from the outside. But the reality is different. The opinions of the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires against the introduction of gay marriage are just as authentic as the resulting conflict with the Argentine President Kirchner government. Proof that it is not Boff's representation that corresponds to the truth comes in an internal letter of 22 June 2010 by the then Cardinal Bergoglio to the cloistered convents of Carmelite nuns in Argentina. In this letter, he condemns gay "marriage" in the strongest terms, and asks the nuns to pray intensely to the Argentine senators do not agree to the draft law which was being discussed in Parliament at that time.

So far gone into old age are these modernists. But what about the SSPX?

On the relationship of the newly elected PopeFrancis and the SSPX founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, the American priest Father John Zuhlsdorf and the Italian websisite Cantuale Antonianum have given their positions.

A further contribution to the discussion meantime was made by the traditionally orientated website, Cordialiter .

In the contribution Journey of Pope Francis to Econe, it reads:

"In the future we might see a nice surprise in an Apostolic journey of Pope Francis to Econe (Switzerland) to sign a peace agreement in the historic stronghold of Lefebvrists . That would be really a superb and concrete gesture of brotherly love. I do not think it is a non-realizable dream. It is now known that the Archbishop of Buenos Aires used to have warm relations with the SSPX and I believe that if Monsignor Bernard Fellay would invite Pope Francis to Econe, the Pope could even accept the invitation. These days, we have seen that he is a spontaneous person, who cannot be pressed into fixed templates, ready even to make unfamiliar and unpredictable gestures. I think that he would not let the clamor of the progressives intimidate him. Imagine the Pope in the stronghold of the SSPX. That would truly be a historic meeting.

In the meantime, it would be advisable for the SSPX to start friendship with the Patriarch of Moscow. There would be nothing wrong there, if Monsignor Fellay and Patriarch Kirill would meet for dinner to talk amicably about the dramatic spiritual situation in Europe and on other important issues for Christianity. This would not in any way the contradict the teaching content of the doctrinal encyclical Mortalium Animos of the great Pope Pius XI. If Bishop Fellay was photographed while he and the Patriarch of Moscow shook hands and the news spread that the two were friends, this would strengthen the position of the SSPX considerably. The modernists could not attack so hard otherwise they would run the risk of damaging the diplomatic relations with the Orthodox, who are known to have a more friendly and respectful attitude as the SSPX. SSPX given deadline by Head of CDF to submit by this Friday

Reactions
Archbishop Müller, as prefect of the CDF signed the letter on the 8th January containing an ultimatum of 22 February

Rome (KAP) The "Society of St. Pius X"(SSPX), according to unofficial information, have been given only until Saturday for reconciliation with Rome. The most recent demand for a reply to the Vatican's offer set a deadline of the 22nd February, the Italian Vatican journalist Andrea Tornielli wrote in his blog (Monday). If the SSPX gave their approval a personal prelature for the SSPX could be erected on the same date.

The Catholic Church celebrates on the 22nd  February the "Chair of Peter". It commemorates the adoption of the Roman bishopric by the Apostle Peter and to his appointment to the office of leadership. Pope Benedict XVI who has very much driven forward agreement with the traditionalist Society who is separated from Rome, leaves office on 28 February.

Up to now it was known that the CDF had again urged the Superior General of the SSPX, Bernard Fellay to give a response at the beginning of a response. However Tornielli writes, citing French observers, including that the letter signed by Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller acting as prefect dated 8th January contains an ultimatum date of 22nd February.

If by then, no binding position of the SSPX arrives, Rome could possibly try to persuade individual members of the SSPX to return to communion with the Pope, according to Tornielli referring to French media.

The SSPX was created in 1969 in rejection of the reforms of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965). Contentious issues are especially liturgy, ecumenism and religious freedom. The founder of the SSPX, the French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (1905-1991) made the break with Rome by conducting the ordination of bishops in 1988 which was not allowed by Rome.

In an effort to reach agreement, Benedict XVI in 2007 re-permitted the sole form of Mass prior to the Council. In 2009, he lifted the excommunication against the four bishops consecrated by Lefebvre.
This was followed by one and a half years of dialogue between experts from the Vatican and the SSPX.

In September 2011 the Vatican put to the SSPX a "preamble" for signature that includes a commitment to the full magisterium. After an answer from Fellay in April 2012 and a debate in the Vatican Fellay received the request to clarify open questions.

Archbishop Lefebvre might not have split, says Cardinal.

Reactions
"According to a senior Vatican official, the superior general of the Society of St. Pius X once said that, if the traditionalist group's leader had seen the Mass celebrated properly, he might not have broken off from the Church.

Cardinal Antonio Canizares, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, made this statement on Jan. 15 in response to questions from reporters after he delivered an address on the Second Vatican Council at the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See.

“On one occasion,” the Spanish cardinal recalled, “Bishop [Bernard] Fellay, who is the leader of the Society of St. Pius X, came to see me and said, ‘We just came from an abbey that is near Florence. If Archbishop [Marcel] Lefebvre had seen how they celebrated there, he would not have taken the step that he did.’”

“The missal used at that celebration was the Paul VI Missal in its strictest form,” the cardinal added."

Ultimatum to Bishop Williamson expires

Reactions

News travels very quickly ... at the moment we learn of the existence of a new leak from Metzingen, namely about yet another private letter in which Bishop Fellay gives an ultimatum of ten days to Williamson, we also learn that the formalizing of the act of expulsion will not be delayed! Both pieces of news come from knowledgeable French and English members of traditionalist forums ... A high up bishop and Ignis Garden ... Now, everything is still to be officially confirmed ... New rifle butt against Bishop Fellay Williamson A new initiative of Bishop Fellay against Bishop Williamson risks causing the implosion of the SSPX. There is a new and explosive confidential letter which was sent by Bishop Fellay to Bishop Williamson. Source This letter was also sent in confidence District Superiors. In this very sententious long letter , the Superior of the SSPX announces he is acting on the exclusion by the General Chapter of Ecône. However, he says he may reconsider this decision, however, if Williamson finally closed down his site [note: the circular letter Eleison Comments] said nothing more, does nothing and sends a detailed letter of apology to having, by his attitude, caused confusion among the priests and faithful of the SSPX in criticizing the decisions of the Chapter. At no point in this long letter, does Bishop Fellay wonder about his own responsibility for the crisis that continues to shake the SSPX, or if this ultimatum does not exacerbate divisions within the SSPX of which he is in charge, at a time when the turmoil began to dissipate. Bishop Williamson is requested to act within 10 "working" days(these are the words!) Otherwise, he will be permanently excluded from the SSPX. This letter is authentic, its content was communicated to me a source which could not be safer! IT’S OFFICIAL! BP. WILLIAMSON HAS BEEN EXPELLED!!!!!! I JUST GOT WORD OF IT THIS MORNING. NOT A THIRD WARNING, BUT AN EXPULSION! LET’S MOVE ON. Source Everything remains to be verified in the next few minutes and hours ... Update 9:35 p.m.: The latest news: - The ten-day ultimatum issued by Bishop Fellay began Oct. 4. SSPX- Bishop Williamson not welcome in Brazil

Reactions

At the invitation of Dom Thomas, prior of the monastery of the Holy Cross of New Freiburg, Bishop Williamson came to confer the sacrament of confirmation and give some lectures.

I would like to clarify that this trip has been organized independently of the SSPX. Indeed, according to the directives left by our founder Archbishop Lefebvre, only the Superior General, Bishop Fellay in this case, gives the mandate to the auxiliary bishops to undertake a pastoral visit. This procedure has not been respected, which is a serious act against the virtue of obedience but also a more basic lack of courtesy. In addition, the District Superior's agreement has not been requested as required by the statutes of our Fraternity. The harmonious collaboration that existed between the SSPX and the Monastery of the Holy Cross has been broken by this act of great gravity, so the organizers must take responsibility before God. Indeed, some have been deceived and faithful attended the ceremonies and conferences announced believing that they had been organized by the SSPX.

After reading the article of Dom Tomas de Aquino "Honor and Glory to Mgr Williamson", I denounce firmly the indirect accusations which were made suggesting that the SSPX would agree with modernism and cease fighting for the defense of Catholic Tradition .

Such insinuations are gratuitous, false, hurtful and injurious to our Superior General and to the members of the SSPX. I cannot remain silent. If Bishop Fellay has rejected the outstretched hand of Rome on June 13, it is for doctrinal reasons. And it is because we reject the modernism imbued Vatican II which is the main cause of the ruin of the Church today and we want to continue saying it, it is also because we reject the Novus Ordo Missae that departs from both Catholic doctrine "as a whole and in detail", that no practical agreement has been signed with Rome. This was the position of Archbishop Lefebvre yesterday and this is the position of Monsignor Fellay today. The General Chapter last July confirmed it. Any other assertion is nothing more than a manipulation or lie. Any prediction of a practical agreement reveals a morbid imagination.

At the beginning of December, Bishop de Galarreta will come to visit and confer the sacrament of Confirmation in Brazil and other countries in our district as our Superior General has planned for many months.

I invite the faithful of the Catholic tradition in Brazil not to pay attention to rumors, to continue to support their priests with their sacrifices, prayers and generosity and beg God to send numerous and ardent vocations to defend and extend the reign of Christ the King under the noble banner of the Catholic tradition and the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. God bless you!

After Vatileaks, Tradileaks- the state of play of SSPX-Rome negotiations

Reactions

Internal Letter from the Secretary-General of the SSPX, Father Christian Thouvenot to the superiors of the SSPX dated 17 July. The text.

During the month of May, Mons.Fellay went to Corsica, to confirm some believers in an at most unexpected atmosphere after the local bishop had thought it well to take the task to himself.

He then visited the Superior General of the Priory of Marseille and the School of Brignoles, where he once again dispensed the Sacrament of Confirmation and gave two lectures by our current relations with Rome.
On 9 May, he was with the First Assistant in Rome, earnestly ask from Monsignor Pozzo for the guarantee in the event that the SSPX was canonically erected as a prelature by the Holy See, to be allowed to continue to highlight mistakes and scandals. The discussion stumbled particular on the recognition of the legitimacy of the new rite, that is, about the validity of this liturgical law and thus the legitimacy of celebrating according to the rite of Paul VI.

Finally, the examination of the text presented by Mons. Fellay by an assembly of cardinals had led to substantial demands for modifications (apart from the liturgical question, the recognition "of the Second Vatican Council and the subsequent Magisterium, to be understand in continuity with the previous teaching office," the opposition to our reference to the anti-modernist oath, and the introduction of evidence from the new catechism, etc.).

These demands were submitted to our Superior General on Wedneday 13 June.

Msgr. Fellay has immediately responded that he could not sign such a declaration. We have thus arrived at the starting point, that is, at the dead end, which is how Msgr. Fellay expressed the matter on 29 June in Ecône.

In the meantime, the Superior General went to Theresa High School in Schoenberg for confirmations (May 13) to Austria (Salzburg and Vienna) and to the Czech Republic (journey from 16 to 21 May) and at Pentecost on the pilgrimage of Chartres, then at the end of May, to Stuttgart.

The activities of the First Assistant, Father Niklaus Pfluger The first assistant was at the beginning of the month in the Romagna region of Italy to preach to a youth retreat. After a trip to Rome on 9 May he was in Wang's (Switzerland) for the school party of 13 May.

On 20 May, he celebrated in the presence of the Swiss District Superior a Mass of thanksgiving for the 25 years of our chapel in Goldau in the canton of Schwyz. In late May, he went to Germany, first to Berlin and then to Stuttgart, to travel to southern France - the school of Saint-Joseph Carmes of Montreal de l'Aude, the Priory in Montpellier and Toulouse. He visited the house of Notre-Dame, which is being set up to create within the SSPX a real contemplative life.

The activities of the Second Assistant, Father Alain-Marc Nely The second assistant was on 6 May in Marseilles and then flew to Kenya, where he inaugurated the new building, especially the Novitiate of the Missionary Sisters of Jesus and Mary. He also preached a retreat to a good group of believers in Kampala, Uganda. After his return on 13th, Father Nely on 17 June visited the new priory in Nancy. He then went to Suresnes to the district headquarters, where he informed the friends and benefactors of the SSPX of the latest developments of our contacts with Rome.

The activities of the General Economist, Father Emeric Baudot , the General Treasurer, for his part traveled to Canada in May. He made a trip to Winona and then went to Dillwyn, Virginia, the construction site of the future seminary in the United States where the foundations are begun after site work.

The General Chapter , the General Chapter was held from 9-14 July in Ecône. He was preceded retreat for priests, which were preached by Father Alain Lorans, the former director of the seminary.  This chapter began with an reference to the reading of the rules of this chapter, the review of the drafts and the case of Mons. Williamson, who was due to canon 2331 § § 1 and 2 (nc. 1373) suspended from his duties as a chapter member.

Here are the final declarations , which the chapter has adopted before its ending and the visit to the grave of our beloved founder. This declaration will also be published on 'DICI', the official communication organ of the General House . Also, the initial conditions were defined better for a possible normalization of our relations with the official church

Conditions sine qua non- those which the SSPX enjoins and those which are sought from the Roman authorities, before seeking for a canonical recognition:

1. The freedom, the sound doctrine of the constant Magisterium of the Church and the unchanging truth of the divine tradition to preserve, share and teach and the freedom to accuse and even to correct the promoters of the errors or the innovations of modernism, liberalism, and Vatican II and its aftermath.

2.The exclusive use of the Liturgy of 1962. The retention of the sacramental practice that we currently maintain (including: orders, confirmation, marriage).

3. The commitment of at least one bishop.

Desirable conditions

1. A separate ecclesiastical court of the first instance;

2. Exemption of the houses of the SSPX from  the diocesan bishops

3.The Pontifical Commission for the tradition of Rome, which depends directly from the Pope, with the majority of the members and the president in favour of tradition.

The proceedings of the Chapter will be published in 'Cor Unum' which comes out at the end of this month of July. They say serious a duty is the preservation of natural, professional, and entrusted secrecy which is to be observed in righteousness. May this Circular, which is reserved for the superiors and to inform the members of the Fraternity of Saint Pius X, be preserved in our society internally and not to be disseminated on the Internet in particular, in forums and other blogs.

Rome

Msgr. Fellay asked me to add the following considerations: The General House is aware of the difficulties and aware of the- often exaggerated unhappiness- that may have been caused by some ambiguities that Rome has been clarified only recently, especially by the response of the CDF of 13 June. Msgr. Fellay Rome is however obliged to thank Rome that it has finally explained their position clearly. This allows henceforth the problems to be addressed more easily. Desiring to unite our forces from now on, one wishes to stop the rash judging of others, as if one can mock each other with impunity.

SSPX Superior in France on possibility of new ex-communications

Reactions
kreuz.net – Wird es neue Sanktionen geben?

The German text has been taken from a French text which appeared in the SSPX journal Fideliter, of which this is an English translation.

Before anything, Father de Cacqueray clarified in a press release today the context in which the piece was written.

The agency Apic used my editorial in Fideliter No. 208 in contrast to the interview of July 16 given by our Superior General .  (The SSPX Superior in France torpedoes all reconciliation with Rome)

Yet it is there more than a month since this text was written, three weeks since it was received by our subscribers and, from the date of 9 July, when it was published on the site Tradinews .

This text had no other purpose than to follow up the meeting of 13 June of Bishop Fellay with Cardinal Levada . During this interview, in fact, our Superior General had expressed to the former prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith our inability to submit new doctrinal requirements that he demanded. Therefore, one might ask whether  given this refusal, we would attract further sanctions. This is the specific context in which this editorial was written.

The interpretation by the news agency is therefore false. The final statement of our chapter, to be published soon, will give the doctrinal conclusions which were those of all the delegates, even if it displeases all the opinion formers.

Father Regis de Cacqueray , District Superior of the SSPX in France

TOWARD NEW SANCTIONS

The Fideliter editorial

The Rome of Benedict XVI loves us so much that if we reject their proposal, they threaten us with excommunication. It's a bit like a man who would be in love with a young woman, who would hesitate to marry him. He would say, putting a gun to her head: "Marry me within a month, or I'll kill you" What a beautiful love!

In this article Fr. de Cacqueray shows us who might be excommunicated . . . and the pride we must take in being excommunicated by these people without faith.

What will be the credibility of a verdict that conciliar Rome will perhaps soon give concerning the Society? Will they declare it to be schismatic or excommunicated again, or will they exonerate it from these epitaphs? Be that as it may, we do not need to attach an excessive importance to what ever conclusion may be brought. . . as the years go by in the life of the Society, sometimes there are threats and punishments imposed by the Vatican, sometimes there are great compliments and different promises, succeeded by outstretched hands. The most serious of the penalties of the Church were given to sanction the pertinacity of the Society to refuse the errors of the Council, the New Mass, the new Code of Canon Law, and the new religion. As for the promises that were made, their sole consideration always appeared to be to stop the criticism and silence the opposition to the same subjects.

Who deserves to be excommunicated?

One should understand, therefore, that this interminable retraction [palinody] ends by leaving us unmoved and discredits in our eyes those who so easily ply the carrot and stick ... To be excommunicated, and then "de-excommunicated," to be in danger yet again of being excommunicated--one ends up not being impressed much by all these twists and flip-flops. We have so many reasons to consider these unjust sentences null and void! They are discredited in our eyes. First, we are reminded of 1988! The distinguished service rendered by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to the Holy Church by providing her with four excellent Catholic Bishops, through whom the transmission of the Catholic priesthood was fortified was rewarded by excommunication. On this occasion, we noted how, by a mystery of iniquity, the best servants of the Church were mistreated. We do not feel bitter, but we can deduce from all this that the penalty of excommunication no longer makes us tremble.

In this year of the sixth centenary of the birth of St. Joan of Arc, we remember, moreover, that in the history of the Church, there are numerous saints who were mistreated by Church tribunals. Is this also not the history of the Incarnate Word Himself? We are not blind. How is it, even today, that priests, bishops, cardinals—in large numbers—can teach real heresies, advocating a morality that is no longer Catholic, without ever being worried? Who would deserve to be excommunicated? Those trying to convey what the Church has always taught or those who pervert the deposit of revelation?

As for the Pope himself, he must bear in mind that we would have several well-founded reasons to doubt the merits of possible sanctions that he would take concerning us. Certainly, he has adopted a more measured and wise way of applying the Council than his predecessor, but he has nevertheless resolutely followed in his footsteps: interfaith gatherings, visiting mosques and synagogues, active participation in a Lutheran liturgical ceremony in Rome, praise given to Martin Luther, repetition of the scandal of Assisi, beatification of John Paul II, vespers celebrated in the presence of pseudo-Archbishop of Canterbury ...

Condemned for fidelity to the eternal Church!

If he has decided that our bishops or ourselves must be “re-excommunicated,” then we should ask ourselves: “But, ‘re-excommunicated’ by which Church?” By the Catholic Church or by that conciliar church which is a cancer? But this is clear: it is only the conciliar church who would perform this “re-excommunication” : “Cardinal Ratzinger is against infallibility; the Pope is against infallibility due to his philosophical training. Let this be clearly understood: we are not against the Pope as the representative of all the values, which are immutable, of the Apostolic See, the See of Peter. But [we are] against the Pope who is a Modernist, who does not believe in his infallibility, who practices ecumenism. Obviously, we are against the Conciliar Church which is schismatic in practice, even if they do not accept it. In practice, it is in essence an excommunicated church, because it is a modernist church. It is they who excommunicate us, while we want to remain Catholic.” (Lefebvre, Fideliter n.70 p.

That is why excommunication or a declaration of schism which would come from the conciliar church, a sect that has penetrated into the heart of the human part of the Holy Church, should not disturb us. We should rejoice if we were to be condemned for the crime of fidelity to the eternal Church!

SSPX - new head of CDF would have been investigated by the Holy Office

Reactions
Kirchen: Oberster Piusbruder kritisiert Erzbischof Müller - Nachrichten Newsticker - News3 (DAPD) - WELT ONLINE

The traditionalist SSPX goes on the offensive against the new supreme guardian of Catholic faith, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller. Several theological texts of the new prefect of the Congregation were "highly questionable," said the Superior General of the SSPX, Bishop Bernard Fellay, in an interview published on Monday, that the traditionalists published on the Internet. The mission of the CDF was to fight heresy. Müller's texts would previously, without a doubt, have been "the subject of an intervention by the Holy Office, from which the CDF has emerged, which he heads today."

At the same time Fellay announced that the Vatican would "in a very short" time get the position of the SSPX on a possible reconciliation which had been agreed at the General Chapter of the traditionalists in the past week. "We insist on the preservation of our identity, which is the only effective means to help the Church to renew the Christian world," explained the superior general, without giving details.

Bishop Fellay gives his first interview after the SSPX General Chapter

Reactions
Doctrinal mutism is not answer to “silent apostasy”

Bishop Fellay: All ambiguity has now been resolved among us. Very soon we will convey to Rome the position of the Chapter, which has been the occasion to specify our road map insisting upon the conservation of our identity, the only efficacious means to help the Church to restore Christendom. As I told you recently, “if we want to make fruitful the treasure of Tradition for the benefit of souls, we must both speak and act” (cf. interview of 8 June 2012, DICI #256). We cannot keep silent when facing the rampant loss of faith, the staggering fall of the number of vocations, and the decrease of religious practice. We cannot refrain from speaking when confronted with the “silent apostasy” and its causes. Doctrinal mutism is not the answer to this “silent apostasy” which even John Paul II denounced already in 2003.

Cathcon- it look as if after this response is delivered, the personal intervention of the Pope will be required to resolve the reconciliation once and for all.  If he is unwilling or unable to do so, it will indeed be a bleak day for the Church and the Faith.

SSPX says no to Rome-updated

Reactions
Announcement due tomorrow. There is no return to Rome. The superior of the Lefebvrists of Spain and Portugal, Juan Maria Montagut, will communicate to the faithful, after the mass of 11, that the hierarchy of the FSSPX, gathered in Ecône, have decided to say "no" to the Vatican.

The followers of Lefebvre will not return to the Roman fold. Primarily, because they are not willing to accept the Second Vatican Council in all its extremes. The Vatican, through the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Levada, had demanded "full acceptance of the Council". And the Lefebvrists are not willing to return with that condition. They believe that accepting the Council would accept its errors, which, according to them, they are particularly focused on the chapters of "religious freedom, ecumenism and conciliarismo".

The decision of their hierarchy will be well accepted among the followers of the Lefebvrists, which did not see with good eyes a return to Rome conditional on the acceptance of the Council, in which they criticized much of the evils of the present church. However, they are thankful to Rome for the rapprochement and the possibility that has been provided for them to be able to present their doctrinal point of view.

Tomorrow, the superiors of the local FSSPX will read out the statement setting out the reasons and circumstances of their refusal to return to Rome and to reintegrate into the Catholic Church.

Original translation done in great haste- now revised.

Not a surprising decision given the recent unhelpful comments of the new head of the Congregation for the     Doctrine of the Faith.   But a caveat regarding the source at rorate-caeli.

If so a tragedy for the Church and the SSPX.

In other news, the Chapter voted to maintain the exclusion of Bishop Williamson.

Leaked letter indicates problems in SSPX-Rome negotiations

Intégristes : Mgr Fellay suspend la réconciliation avec le Vatican - Catholicisme - La Vie

Bishop Fellay suspends reconciliation with the Vatican
A confidential letter from the secretary of the Superior General of Lefebvrists Bishop Fellay said that ultimately he did not intend to sign the final proposal of the Vatican as he considers it "clearly unacceptable". Strategic retreat or final throwing in of the sponge?

Are the internal divisions in the Society of St. Pius X about to get the better of the reconciliation process between the Lefebvrists and Rome? This is the question we can legitimately ask on reading this letter from the Secretary General, Father Christian Thouvenot. In a document classified as confidential that leaked onto the Internet within hours of its release, Father Thouvenot shared with the SSPX Superiors of different districts (also of seminaries and autonomous houses- Cathcon note) the most recent decisions of Bishop Fellay.

The first decision is the one not to sign the latest version of the famous Preamble doctrine , the essential document for reconciliation and has been in recent months been exchanged back and forth between the parties. Re-altered by Rome following the changes proposed by the SSPX, it was expected in its latest version, according to Father Pfluger (SSPX), to resolve doctrinal differences between Rome and church and Menzingen by using the following formula: "The criteria and guide for the understanding of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council are to be the whole Tradition of the Catholic Faith, which on its part makes clear certain aspects of the life and doctrine of the Church, which are not yet formulated, but implicitly present in it. The affirmations of the Second Vatican Council and of the Pontifical Magisterium of the past relative to the relationship between the Catholic Church and the non-Catholic Christian confessions are to be understood in light of all of Tradition.""

In the letter to District Superors, whose authenticity is ensured, Father Thouvenot explains that the modified preamble presented on June 13 to Bishop Fellay by Cardinal Levada, now prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in charge of the matter in Rome, is the "text lof ast April but amended so that it incorporates, in substance, the proposals of September 2011. Bishop Fellay immediately makes known that he could not sign this document, as it is clearly unacceptable".

The second decision is not a surprise : it concerns a disciplinary decision against Bishop Williamson, the most unmanageable of the bishops of the Society: " I inform all members of the chapter, under canon 2331 § 1 and 2, that the Superior General has deprived Bishop Williamson of capitular office for his positions calling for rebellion and disobedience which he has continually repeated. He also forbidden to go to Ecône for ordinations."

Clearly, Bishop Williamson will not participate in the General Chapter of the Society held in July, and which is to ratify or reject the agreement with Rome. There is no word however on the other two bishops, Msgrs Tissier de Mallerais and De Galarreta, who nevertheless clearly displayed their hostility to an agreement, and warned that they would not follow their Superior General in case of signing, but at least in recognition that he is formally isolated - alone against the three other bishops of the SSPX - Bishop Fellay could hardly exclude the other two.

The third decision demonstrates the fragility of the extreme position of Bishop Fellay within the SSPX. "Bishop Fellay has decided to postpone the ordinations for the Dominicans of Avrillé and the Capuchins of Morgon, which was scheduled Ecône on June 29. This delay in the ordinations was simply dictated by the need to ensure loyalty of these communities before the laying on of hands on their candidates. " The front of opponents of reconciliation with Rome therefore extends not only to the bishops, nor to the simple priests of whom have reacted rather violently to Bishop Fellay in recent weeks, but also to postulants and superiors of Lefebvrist religious communitiess: clearly- those who represent the future of the Fraternity.

Finally it is notable in that letter that the Superior General deals tactfully with the Pope and blames the failure of talks on Cardinal Levada, in charge of the case in Rome: " Our Superior General replied to the letter of March 16 from Cardinal Levada who tried to impose the doctrinal Preamble of September 14, 2011. [...] According to several sources, the new text appeared to satisfy the Supreme Pontiff. "

This formula seems to support the thesis that Bishop Fellay has not lost all hope of reaching an agreement, since Cardinal Levada will leave his post in the coming months, having reached the retirement age.  Putting the responsibility on hin for the end of the talks thus allows delay, to try to rally as many members of the SSPX to his position and to survive in the General Chapter in July without hurting Rome permanently. But let there be no mistake: this is a strong blow to the possibility of an agreement. Mortal blow or not? The future should reveal very quickly.

Key part of doctrinal preamble leaked

ECCE HOMO: SSPX: Doctrinal Preamble Leaked:

"The criteria and guide for the understanding of the teachings of the Second Vatican Council are to be the whole Tradition of the Catholic Faith, which on its part makes clear certain aspects of the life and doctrine of the Church, which are not yet formulated, but implicitly present in it. The affirmations of the Second Vatican Council and of the Pontifical Magisterium of the past relative to the relationship between the Catholic Church and the non-Catholic christian confessions are to be understood in light of all of Tradition.""
The source is Father Pflüger, First Assistant Superior General of SSPX at a conference on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the school of Saint-Joseph-des-Carmes. It is a return to the 1988 formula of accession.

So as Ecce Homo cleverly comments-no more " altar girls, Mass facing the people, Communion in the hand, and all the other innovations that Vatican II never permitted-not to mention no more compromise with other religions when it comes to ecumenical dialogue."

And definitely no more stealth priestesses and the liturgical abuses which have recorded over many years on this blog!

If this is passed, liberal Catholicism is over, at least formally (one cannot but remember that repeated declarations would studiously ignored in the early part of the last century) and one can ask what was the point of the Council?

Guatemalan Revolution against Bishop Fellay

Reactions
Issued by the Priory there by Father Ernesto Cardozo Dismissal of Bishop Fellay Guatemala - 20-6-2012 Open letter to parents and faithful of the SSPX of South America. Much is spoken of the very serious crisis through which the congregation that was founded by Msgr Lefebvre passes, but little and nothing is done in a concrete manner to attack the origin of the current turmoil which is none other than Bishop Fellay and his assistants. For which is proposed a petition on this and other continents, asking for them to be removed from their posts because of their disobedience to the founder, their immorality and abuse of authority. And that the next chapter should be used for the selection of a competent authority, who has given clear evidence of fidelity to combat for tradition. (Portuguese original)
