Vatican keeps Vatileaks journalist well away from Conclave

Author of tell-all book is not allowed to report from the conclave.

The author of a revealing book on Pope Benedict XVI, Gianluigi Nuzzi cannot as hoped report on the election of his successor. The Vatican had rejected his application for accreditation for the conclave, the journalist wrote Monday on Twitter. The decision was "a far cry from transparency and freedom of the press," criticized Nuzzi. No reasons for the de-acreditation were given. Nuzzi wanted to report for the private Italian television channel La7 about the conclave, which begins on Tuesday.
